downloading midi files from internet into the oasys -

Post by brainiac59 »

I download off the internet, a midi file created for a song by the group, Muse. I put it on thumb drive, and put in USB port in back of Oasys. I open Disc and download the file to Sequencer. It does not play correctly because each track has a different midi sound associated with it. I assume this is common. So I change the midi sounds on each midi track to sound correct. I save this into the Disc directory by using the page command: save Seq. It saves. I turn the unit off. I start the unit up again, am able to reload the new .sng file that was created with my new midi patches in each track into Sequencer, and press the sequencer play button, and all I get is the original midi download with the original incorrect sounds. It appears that there is a midi command embedded in the beginning of the midi file originally downloaded that when seen supercedes my saved changes. Any way to keep my changes?? Thanks for any help.[/code]

One way is to load midi file into sequencer. Go to track edit tab and bring up that page. Then hit upper right hand tab to bring up menu. Hit midi event edit and bring up that page. There you uncheck all boxes except program change and hit enter. On the resulting page you will see that "more than likely" your midi file is indicating a program number for that particular track. You highlite the boxes and change to the program that you want and hit copy. Now your program will show up at the beginning of your sequence. Do the same for all the tracks of midi information you wish to change and then save your adjusted midi sequence to disk or thumb drive. There may be a quicker way to accomplish the task, but I do know this works. HTH
