Oasys locking up

Post by Robert Sands »

My Oasys is locking up a lot lately. I was told by a service center to load in the new OS. That's what they do and it has fixed this kind of thing for them. I downloaded 1.3.3 and I'm ready to do it. My question is - should I back up my combis that I've created? Lots of stuff from a lot of people's sessions that I would be in huge trouble if I lost. I can't find out how to back it up. Do you guys think I need to. Could putting in a new OS destroy any combis?

The OS upgrade will not erase anything you have on your Hard Disk so all the data there is safe. If the sounds you have in memory are not on disk, then just save them to disk.
Could putting in a new OS destroy any combis?
You may need to reload your custom sounds to memory again after the OS install, so just make sure you have a backup copy sitting on the hard disk.

Could you tell me how to load in the new OS 1.3.3

I have the disk ready. Do I need a reauthorization CD also?

To load in the new OS do I put it in the drive, power down and then turn the Oasys back on? Is it as simple as that or is it more involved?

Thanks so much.

I would prefer that you read the instructions that came with OS.

The procedure is simple.
1: Inset the CD
2: Turn off the OASYS.
3: Turn on the OASYS after a few seconds
4: The OASYS will ask you to press ENTER to install the OS.
5: The OS installs and you are asked to eject the CD and turn off the OASYS.
6: You turn on the OASYS and it finishes the upgrade and boots as normal.

Also make sure you have no USB devices connected to the OASYS during all this.

Again.... I'd still prefer you read the instructions that came with it though because I'm typing all this from memory.

Sharp.

Thank you - I won't hold you responsible. One last thing - What do you remember about reauthorization? I don't need to do that to just install the new OS do I? I don't think I do but they talk about getting it emailed to you when you download the new OS. It's a bit confusing.

What do you remember about reauthorization?
I have never had to reauthorize my OASYS.

Where did you see something about getting a reauthorization emailed to you? Please let me know, so that I can check on it further.

As Sharp suggests, please read and follow the detailed installation instructions included with the software. I wrote them myself. :-)
