7-Pin MIDI Out with a 5-Pin MIDI Cable - Problems?

After doing some more searching around in response to my MIDI Foot Controllers thread, I discovered the Rocktron MidiMate. However, it has a 7-pin MIDI Out connector, designed to be used for phantom power. None of my other devices have 7-pin MIDI INs, so I'd either have to choose between getting Rocktron's cable that's 7 pins on one side and 5 pins on the other with a split for an AC adapter (so that the MidiMate is powered that way) or using a power adapter and a normal MIDI cable.
If I go the latter route, can I use a standard 5-pin MIDI cable? I'd imagine I could, because it's the two extra pins that add the phantom power on the 7-pin cable, but I want to be certain before I make this purchase.
