how do I disable drum track globally, but leave karma on?

Post by bobbybass »

new user.
ive read manual and tried searching the forums..(karmalab and here)

id like to turn off drumtrack globally so that is never loads/plays when browsing programs..but i notice to do this i have to turn karma off as well? this seems crazy to me!
the drum track is just very disruptive when trying to browse presets quickly and have m3 slaved to ext midi. but i would like to have the karma function on, just without the drum beats

would i manually have to edit each program to turn off dt, or is there another workaround?

thank u!

When browsing programs, if the Drum Track: On/Off button is lit, poke it. It goes off and the drum track does not play.

I'm not sure I understand why that would be too much bother, since it's no more effort than pressing a key to audition the program.

On the other hand, I could be confused about your question here since, on my machine, the drum track appears to be off by default for all programs. I have to poke the Drum Track: On/Off button to turn it on if I want to hear it.

If you're browsing combis, it's another story. The Drum Track might be on or off by default, depending on how the combi was saved. There could be a Karma-powered drum track (or tracks) as well.

i'd just turn off both karma and drum track. if you want karma on, turn it on when you want it.

all programs are karmafied - even if they are not set to have karma on. you'd end up doing this with a lot of programs anyway that are in this state.

Since all programs and combis are user editable on KORG M3 (one of it's unique features).... you 'could' disable Drum Track off on all programs and combis and save them..... It will take long time, but once you are done, you will have the programs to exactly how you like them....;-)
