I probably should know how to do this.....

Post by calaf »

but...

What I don't seem to be able to do is as follows. If I am preparing a song and storing it in the Songbook, is there a way to set the transpose, in this case down, so that when I move to the following song, the transpose doesn't continue and reverts automatically to 0, which is what I am finding.

It is quite usual for me to miss the obvious!

Thanks in advance.
Chris

PS I await the ROFL smileys! :wacky:

Interesting question...

What you need is (if I understand you correct) after loading a song from SB, e.g. "Candle in the wind" keyboard or song or both transposed -5 (lower G) and have just finished performing, the keyboard will automatically reset to transp. -0- ready for playing "live"?

Is this correct?

Even though I don't have an answer at this time, this is interesting for me as well, playing in C-major and singing in whichever key.
I always press trsp -/+ simoultaneously for a reset to -0- and find it easy and fast, but you want the PAX to do this automatically?

Transpose

Post by calaf »

Thanks for the reply, Wings

You have almost interpreted correctly.

As a school teacher I play live for the kids in a show. I set up the songs, with my emphasis on styles and STS, I tend not to fiddle too much with effects, (not that that is relevant to this question), that we will be doing and store them as a custom list. I then simply move down the list as the next song is needed.

With my needing to devote my attention on the kids, I need things to happen on the Korg as simply as possible!

In the show I am preparing, one song in the middle is in one of those keys that is just beyond my playing skills in its original key, so I have transposed it into one I can play.
However I can forget both to set the transpose at the start/ knock the transpose back at the end to 0. This throws me and the kids.

I had hoped that I could set the transpose for the specific song and then when I move to the next song the transpose setting changes to the required setting, usually 0.

In simple terms it is a question more of style handling rather than "songs"
Sorry if I didn't make that as clear as I might.

Best wishes

Chris,
Go to Book Edit 1, Third line down on righthand side says "M. Transp" , just change this value, write it (and re-load the song book entry) and it will only affect this song. I use this all the time and it works fine.
Best,

With apologies to AA Milne...

I have now found the M Transpose, changed the value, stored the song, reloaded the song, transpose remained at zero. I tried a restart of the keyboard, to no avail.

Any other suggestions what else I might do/try?.

I'm not with my keyboard at the moment but the only thing I can think of is that your Master Transpose must be locked in Global. Have a look at your Global menu settings and untick Lock Master Transpose.
Hope this helps.
