kaossilator tempo issues

am i the only one having this problem:
the tempo on my kaossilator does not seem to stay steady with any other equipment I have...I know there is no midi sync, but still, the KO tempo gets off of the tempo of all my other equipment by a beat or two in only a measure or so...even when I use the tap function it seems to get off in only a matter of a few beats...
is something wrong my with my kaossilator or do others have this issue as well?

I've not had this problem, but I always set the Kaossilator to a specific BPM setting that matches other equipment I am using rather than use the tap tempo. I've never been able to get an exact tempo match using tap tempo.

even if i set my ko1, my minikp, my streetboxx, and my sampler to the same tempo, say 120, the KO1 is the thing that gets out of beat...and it only takes a few measures...

welp. there's the final nail in the kaossilator "pro" coffin IMO.
i assume this means that all the previous sync/bpm issues are in place. i have defended korg over this in the past, but to release a new product with the same known problem, is really indefensible.
@bowmoney, do a forum search for sync/bpm issues and you'll find the exact same problem with the kp3, as well as several other issues.

Isn't this thread about the original Kaossilator, not the Pro?

thank god i think you are right.
i never noticed this issue with the original kaossilator but i used the kp3 to record loops since it has a longer loop length.

Weird. I use the K1 on its own primarily as an instrument to add texture to recorded material. I did one track of over two minutes where I recorded a drum pattern on my Boss MBR (a digital recorder, not a looper) for over two minutes and then added many K1 layers. One sound used an arp pattern to create a rhythm track and this stayed completely in time with the drums recorded on the MBR. The only synching I did was to set the BPM the same on the K1 and the Boss drum pattern and then make sure I hit the XY pad in time with the drum beat. Worked fine for me.

I have never noticed any tempo drift with the K1.
Maybe the batteries are low?

If the tempos of all the devices are EXACTLY the same and you trigger their playback at EXACTLY the same time and it still drifts, I think you have a problem with your Kaossilator.
It doesn't take much for devices to be offset after a couple measures.

wow that really sucks...i guess there is nothing i can do...120 on my beat machine and minikp is definitely more like 122 on my kaossilator...kinda why i want a kpro since everything is self contained and the drums are better...i dig the ko1, but the drums are only passable, and i want something that thumps
if anyone happens to have a fix for the tempo issue let me know, but i think it is a lost cause...i bought it on ebay new but the return period is passed now

Have you been in touch with Korg directly? They might be able to help. I wouldn't hold your breath (unless you have hiccoughs). But they might be able to help...

wooooo i've been hoping someone would make a post regarding this before i went to guitar center haha..
for people who aren't caught up on the syncing issues (this was originally in the KP3 as well), please read this topic:
http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=46625
to summarize, the KP3 (and apparently the KOpro now too) has a slightly off internal clock, making it impossible to use this unit as a looper in conjuction with other gear that needs to be synced (ie: a separate drum machine). even if you manually set the tempo to say 120.0 bpm across all your gear, the KP3 will slowly drift out of sync after a few minutes due to this clock.
i made a post a while ago saying Korg was gonna do one of two things (they must certainly know about this, it's quite a big issue):
1. they release the KOpro with the same inherent problem, which
will preserve compatibility/syncing with the KP3, which they figure a lot of people will have both units
2. they will fix the inherent issue, the KOpro will sync perfectly indefinitely to another external metronome if set at the same bpm. HOWEVER this will force them to either go and retroactively fix the KP3 (see point 1), or deal with people moaning about KOpro and KP3 not being able to sync (this would be an ugly PR issue for them, so I kinda understand them taking the easy way out and releasing the KOpro as is, flaws intact).
given all this, it really doesn't matter too much if you're ONLY using a KP3, or KOpro, or both. however, if you're gonna try and sync multiple instruments, say a drum machine, or another sampler, or even some korg synthesizers for sync'ed arppegiator effects, you're s.o.l.
thank you for making this post and saving me $400. this and the lack of an undo feature (can you honestly say you've never screwed up while sampling??) has finalized my decision to purchase a Boss RC-50 instead. i do have other Korg gear -- their synths are amazing -- but as far as my sampling needs, i will look to other brands.

As has already been mentioned, this post is about the Original Kaossilator KO1 -
not the KOPro.
In this case, I believe it may be down to batteries or a faulty unit.
