Sorry if I'm breaking any forum rules by posting this here, but I'm not exactly sure where to post this.

I'm writing here today on behalf of an Orlando band called The Eyes of God (not Christian, think epic like 300). Their keyboardist unfortunately had to leave the band due to medical reasons and they are now a member short.

The guys have been looking all over town, all over the internet and have come up with some very interesting characters, to say the least, but none that would fit the band.

I'm not apart of the band, but I am VERY close with the guys. I got the idea to post here because their old keyboardist exclusively used Korg products (specifically the M3 & the Radias) and figured I might be able to find like-minded keyboardists here that could guide the boys in their search.

As far as their musical style, the guys are VERY diverse. They're influenced by everything from Bach to Jay-Z. The guys LOVE: Fuel, Oasis, Queen, Metallica, NIN, Poets of the Fall (if you don't know them you should check them out), Dream Theater, Trivium, Seal, Rammstein, Epica, Lostprophets, and the list goes on.

They also write orchestral and classical pieces ala John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Debussy, Liszt, Ravel, Holst, and again the list goes on and on and on......

I would recommend "Moving On" and "Hero" to get a good taste of what they do.

If you or anyone you know might be interested or even if you think there's a better way of going about this search PLEASE let me know so I can tell the guys.

I'm doing this without their knowledge because they would NEVER dream of bothering strangers about this, but I'm trying to help out my friends here and ANY help you guys can throw their way would be GREATLY appreciated.

They've got some talent, but they need a lot of help with recording and mastering their tracks, and the lead singer is flat and rather bad on the moving on track. He does a much better job on the last forever track, so I think the problem is his vocals on long sustained notes. He has a good vocal quality that comes through on the second track, even though the recording quality is very bad on everything. The vocals could use a lot of effects work to keep them from sounding so flat in the mix.

The drum kit sound is a mess, no dynamic range, not individually mic'd and gated apparently. The drummer and guitarist are obviously talented, so it's a shame to not hear that come through the mix. The drums could really shine if properly captured. I know you weren't asking for this kind of opinion, but I wouldn't even give it if I didn't think the band had some good talent. Just clear up a few of these audio problems and I think they will see a lot more success.

As for a keyboardist, Rene the lead singer has his hands free, right? Put the mic on a stand and put him to use. This is what the Enter Shikari lead singer does - he can press play on the EMX+ESX and use the KP3 to add live effects.

The guys are fully aware of the audio quality. They recorded the tracks in someone's garage and the guy gave them the tracks with all of these mistakes.

Rene's actually pretty good on pitch most of the time, but the "producer" said not worry about re-recording mistakes because he would melodyne everything and he didn't. Lesson learned.

The songs were recorded on the fly because the band needed to have SOMETHING for people to listen to. They jumped on the first thing they could afford and DEFINITELY learned that you get what you pay for.

Rene does have his hands free sometimes but most of the time he's playing rhythm guitar, hence why they're looking for a full keyboardist.

They're planning on recording a full-length LP in June/July, mistake free.

And no offense was taken from your post. The guys would agree with you 100% and would most likely thank you for saying they've got some talent and would buy you a drink .

But nobody knows of any keyboardists that would be willing to jump on this project, or perhaps an online community to find one?

While it's certainly worth a shot to see if anyone here might be in the area, this forum is more of a world-wide community. I've been in Orlando quite a bit, months at a time, although I never lived there permanently. I would think that plugging away by continuing to go through all the local possibilities is probably your best bet. There's so much live entertainment in and around the parks that I wouldn't be surprised if there were some college aged keyboardists who work as cast members and who are looking to escape the mouse. Have you posted ads in all the music gear stores?

Glad no offense was taken by my suggestions. Yes, any garage "producer" who thinks melodyne is the magic fix-all is certainly a dead giveaway that he's completely incompetent. In fact, anyone calling himself a producer should immediately be suspect. They should research the local studios and choose the best they can find with engineers who have solid credentials. The high price of studio time should serve as good incentive to get the music nice and tight before recording, so as not to waste anyones time and money. Rather than thinking "LP", they are probably better off focusing on nailing one track at a time. That "moving on" track seems to be a good candidate because it just seems to clearly highlight Rene's vocal style so well.

I would suggest that they buy the TC Helicon Voice Live 2, even if the band has to pitch in to get it. It will give a studio quality polish to his vocal that will make it shine. The VL2 isn't needed to "fix" his vocals - just to give it a studio mastered sound for the band's live gigs. They can take it back to the store during the return policy if they don't agree, but I'll bet they'll never use raw vocals again after trying it. It's also a great learning experience for a vocalist to know about the whole vocal effects chain as prep for the studio. In case you're wondering, no, I have nothing to do with TC Helicon. I use a similar vocal rack in my studio, the VoiceWorks Plus. I just know how much these vocal processors improve the end result for live gigs and recording.

well thank you guys very much for your interest! It's actually very interesting because the singer, Rene, is Cuban and the drummer, Fernando, is Colombian, might as well add a Chilean to the mix right?

I would love to play with the guys, and the mix of our latin-american roots should be work great.
It's a shame that I've to wait to finish my studies at the university this year or surely I would buy a ticket to Florida.
