Oasys's Guitar/Bass through MIDI?

Post by Pr0 »

What I mean is, has anyone recorded a guitar or bass in the Oasys through MIDI live playing? I'm curious... does the Oasys picks up all those nuances and little things of a stringed instrument? A guitar or bass, that is...

If you mean things like up, down, up-down slides , pull-offs, thumps ,
fret noise , finger sqeeks, x-notes ... in a word - NO !
However, if you check some of the Bass patches in the lower octaves , you'll find x-notes and maybe some slides that you'll have to either edit in
or play a keyboard to trigger those sounds.
IF you're using a guitar or bass with a midi pickup installed , you might have some luck , though I have no experience with that kind of setup.

In attempting to make bass patches , in particular , sound more like a live player is playing , I highly suggest using a computer DAW for all that editing.
Actually, I'd recommend a computer sequencer over the Oasys sequencer
anyday. I don't like the Oasys sequencer at all - but that's just me.
.... AND if you REALLY want to make Bass parts sound like the real thing
I can't praise Spectrasonics' Trilian plug-in. Trilian for bass is far superior
IMHO
