MIDI In Connection Failure

Howdy:

Here's a mystery...

M-Audio USB UNO midi out from the Oasys works fine. MIDI in to the Oasys does not work, that is, no sounds are triggered in any mode (program, combi, sequencer).

The same connector works just fine with a Korg Karma, M3, and Motif ES.

The Oasys responds correctly to MIDI input from an M-Audio Firewire 410.

What could the difference be?

(I'm trying to eliminate the Firewire 410 since the audio driver does not play well with my new Windows 7 (64-bit) system.)

One further note; the Oasys did not respond to input from the USB UNO when I tried it on a Vista system, so it's not Win 7.
