which electribe model?

Post by Bowmoney »

i can't seem to find a good resource anywhere as to which electribe models do what things!

I just want an electribe that I can make little blippy sequences on...i don't care so much about the drum machine part of them, I just want something that can emulate an analog sequencer and give me a phrase of 16 beats...i don't need to control anything externally, i just want something that i can put 16 different notes into and they will repeat...that is my main concern...

which electribe models can do melodies like this? any recommendations? thanks for the patience.

from what little you've said, you could do it with an EM1, ES1, EMX or ESX

Well we all know that a melody is a series of pitched notes.... Hopefully.

Anyway, I think maybe you may be after the EA-1, EM-1, or EMX.

The ES1 and ESX can sound like entire songs when programmed cleverly and a lot of the preset patterns involve drums, bass, chords (guitar & EP). But I personally feel are best at drums and other rhythm elements.
The ER-1 is basically an analog drum machine and not great at any form of melody, although you can get a little bit of pitch into sequences.

well yeah! :)

but I don't know what the OP means by "melodies" as they put it

the use of quotes made me think he's talking about something specific which he isn't explaining, otherwise why not just say melodies?!

the post i was referring to said "you can't play melodies on this machine" but I don't think they were using melodies in the same way I was...I am reffering to notes...like black keys and white keys...can i push a button on the electribe, then push the button right next to it and have it be one half or whole tone higher? are there sounds loaded that sound like melodic instruments and not hi hats or bass drums or snare drums. I understand you can pitch shift with a knob, but I want to know the best electribe model for laying down melodies...for example, would you recommend the model that has a melodic capability and step sequencer like an mc 303 sequencer? I have a great drum a machine, but would like something to run along side it with bass drum tracks or blip tracks or glitchy noises, etc...

Yes.

Yes.

They all have that sort of sequencer. The sounds they make depend on the model.

An ER1 is purely a drum machine - not what you want.

An EA1 is a synth, with two voices, which is pretty good for bass lines.

An ES1 or ESX is a sampler, and can have instrument samples that play at different pitches, as well as drum samples.

An EM1 or EMX is probably what you want.

But seriously, you could have just gone to youtube and found that much out, couldn't you?

no, i tried to look at youtube, lots of videos, nothing showing all the differences in models

thanks for the recommendation

and besides...what is the point of having a community of users if their answer is "go somewhere else for the answers"?

It's an EA1 that you want. This will fit your wishlist perfectly.

not showing exactly the answer you want, but if there's a video showing someone playing a melody on an EMX, it's a pretty big clue it can do that, isn't it?

erm, cos the answers are already out there, if you bother to look?

and besides, I just said explained the major differences, even though you could have used youtube (or other sites) to do some homework
