Possibly embarrassing KP3 questions
I just recieved my KP3 and was just trying it out. It seems that when I record a loop, it doesn't playback like it should. The light on the sample bank becomes orange like it should, the bank volume is up, and I can hear anything else I'm doing (which, now, is just drums and synths) just fine.
Second problem, I plugged a mic into the mic input, with no result. Input select is set to mic, and the mic and cable work fine otherwise.
I feel like I'm just missing something. Am I being a complete idiot? Or do I actually have a problem?
Thanks for your time.

ok in that case you'll need to be a bit more descriptive. you said it doesn't playback like it should ... so how does it playback? no sound at all?
when you say drums & synth, you mean the drum & synth programs on the KP3, or drums & synths coming into the input from somewhere else?
if you don't hear samples you recorded, and you don't hear the mic, is your Input Volume right down?

to record a sample that includes the KP3's effects (including drum/synth sounds from the KP3) you need to REsample, not just sample. Otherwise it only records what's in the Mic/Line input
Edit:
... so if you have nothing on the input, you'll record nothing.
You should be able to sample from the Mic, but maybe that's a separate problem

Cool - so that explains half the problemjusthereforonequestion wrote:You were right, I was sampling instead of resampling for the drums and synth. Thanks a lot!
I would think so, but I've never used a mic with my kp3, I only use the line inputs.justhereforonequestion wrote: For the mic, yes the input volume and mic trim aren't the problem.
I assume the signal from a mic straight to the KP3 should be strong enough, right?
It's not a mic that requires phantom power, is it? I would assume not if it has a 1/4" jack rather than XLR connector

It's a dynamic mic, a Shure beta 57a to be precise, so I don't think so.
The line inputs work fine. It must be a problem with the mic input itself(?) Or am I still missing something?
Well, at least now I can get started properly. I'll probably be using the line inputs anyway, with the mic through a mixer.
