damaged cf card slot

I can't insert my cf card. I think I've damaged the mechanism somehow. Probably a result of a cloth carrying bag I sometimes use not having enough padding on the bottom where the back of my TrEx rests. I have also damaged the audio input pot. Bad, bad.
Any suggestions for repair? I live remote from places where there are techs who can work on this so popping down to the shop is not an easy option. (4 hour drive involved) I wouldn't hesitate to do what's necess. to expose the reader and remove it unless that's a very difficult job.

Hi lebeau99.
I am not a tech but I have been inside the Triton Ex. In fact, I had to do a repair on the eject button of the one I was working on. As I recall, the CF reader is not a component that you can remove. Yes, the pins are located inside a little plastic housing but the pins are soldered individually to the board they are on. You simply cannot replace the reader. And when I saw those solder joints I realized that you have to have specialized equipment to repair them. I talked to a tech in Denver and he said he can do those repiars but they cannot be done with a standard solder gun. If you saw how close these pins are you would immediately know what I am talking about.
Sorry for the bad news but I hope that helps. I think you are going to have to make that 4 hour drive.
Take care and good luck.

Yup. All of that is accurate. The guy I go to in Edmonton can do that kind of stuff but you're right, it's extremely intricate. Lesson? Make sure you have good padding for the back of your Ext. Be gentle. If it doesn't go in easily, don't force it. Find out first what the problem is. In my case it was a damaged release mechanism, not in itself tough to fix. But it caused the card to go in crooked and I bent a bunch of those TINY pins.
Fortunately Korg Canada had replacement parts in stock. I hate to think about how much this is going to cost in the end.
