I want to create a new AL-1 patch.

However, if I go into some of my empty user banks, they are all based on the HD-1.

How can I change this to be Exi?

Just set the bank you'd like to initialize to either HD-1 or EXi (as desired), and press OK. Note that this is destructive; make sure to back up your data!

From OASYS PG p. 740 (latest PDF version E5): "This specifies the bank type for Program mode program banks USER‐A through G. When you execute this, the programs within the bank will be initialized to programs of the specified bank type."
