Buying new KORG

Post by tl2hend »

My band wants to buy a new KORG keyboard, but we must be able to program a click output for the drummer to follow.
What models will work?

The Korg RADIAS

Post by CharlesFerraro »

Not familiar with the term but if you're saying you need a sort of metronome to be able to come out of the synth then you could send one of the drum racks inside the Radias into an individual output (thereby not interfering with the sound coming from the main outs) that the drummer could listen to. If he is going to be wearing headphones then the click will only come out of one side I'm afraid.

You need a click to come out, sure, but what other features do you need? What kind of sounds do you need?

For example, the Radias is mentioned. It is a great synth but you'll never get a real piano out of it, for example, because it is a synthesizer which mostly excels at electronic and synthetic sounds.

If you want all manner of real and synth sounds, you want a workstation or something based on one.

Then there is cost. The M3 is korg's current flagship workstation. There is a cheaper version - the M50, but it doesn't have individual the outputs which you'd use for a seperate click track output.

In previous gen and 2nd hand equipment, most of the triton series all have alternate outputs. The Triton Classic, Studio, Extreme, LE, TR, and the KARMA.
