Hi all.

Just a quick note to say watch the sky tonight. There will be a very heavy Meteor Shower.

It will peak at 11pm GMT.

I picked it up in the news, it suggested it was only across northern UK.
Just as well because it is thick with cloud here...

Anyway, surely it should be visible elsewhere too. otherwise that is a very very small meteor shower. I wouldn't be surprised if what I read was rubbish. Can't remember where...

I'll be sure to keep an eye open either way! :)

Well, I waited from 6:30pm till 10pm (GMT -4:30 from 11:00pm to 3:30am) and not a single tiny meteor showed up. I guess is not visible down here.

Skies were clear here in Ontario, Canada; but, I didn't see a damn thing either.

It's a global event that lasts 2 nights. I was out last night watching the sky and it was really cool. You would see nothing at all for ages and then bang... all of a sudden lots of activity and then nothing again for ages.

Pretty cool stuff. It's not like a shooting star at all. It's very like faint super fast lines appearing in the sky. At about 11:30GMT they were travelling south from where I live. Can't get over the speed of them. So freaking fast.

Jupiter at it’s closet

I was getting mad that a man made satlite put up was so bright it was wreaking the view of the Moon.

Turns out it was Jupiter at it’s closet since 1951. Now I can't stop watching it move about.

Do you have a telescope, John?

Bought a smaller SkyWatcher 130PM for my uncle a couple of years ago. Not really an option where I am though due to light pollution.

If I had a telescope I would have known it was Jupiter;-) The SW130PM is a great telescope for the money...just looked it up.

It's amazing how little attention I’ve paid to the stars like the people from the past did. They would be of little value to me getting around lost. The next two things I want to get (after a new OASYS and my home squared away) is a high quality Light microscope and a Meade LX90-ACF 8 GPS Computerized Telescope to start out with or maybe even the Meade Telescope LX200 ACF 10" w/ UHTC. I like to be overwhelmed starting out;-)

My Wa property is a great place to watch because its really dark at night and at 2000 ft in cleaner thinner air than where I’m now living in White Salmon were the cops want to kill me;-) Except that’s not funny because its true and some high rolling people are looking at jail time and finding a new job with a few cops along side them.

I just got paper work for my housing that is demanding I sign a release allowing my personal information “to any member of the public or the press for any purpose whatsoever without my specific further approval.” It’s hidden written in at the bottom of a ”privacy rights ”paragraph most people don’t bother reading and may be a one of a kind letter. I crossed it out. You need to realize you’re not the only ones reading my posts.

This really got my attention recently:

Telophase HeLa (immortal cancer) cells. This picture absolutely blew me away with what I see happening within it. The symmetry is so amazing.

Crystallized soy sauce magnified was another that laid me out with a bunch of others. I like seeing the smaller pieces of Life better than the whole “whatever” as the parts are much simpler.
