KP3 won't connect to computer
Moderators: Sharp, X-Trade, Pepperpotty, karmathanever
You want to connect it to the line-in (l-in) and the line-out (l-out).
balanced cables won't help you because you're working with RCA and mini jacks, both of which aren't balanced.
You've got the right idea, you need another cable identical to the one you have.
One should go from Line Out on the PC to the Line In L & R on the KP3. The other should go from Output L and R on the KP3 to Line In on your PC.

so I dont need to buy an audio interface to get my kp3 to work?
and could you give me the exact name of the cables I have to buy?
(i'll buy them from ebay or something)
and which colours of my soundcard do I need to use?
I'm afraid it won't work because when I pull out the cable that goes to my speakers (in the green one) I don't hear anything at all.
sorry for being such a noob and asking questions all the time!
*edit: these are the cables i already own:

can I use them or do I have to buy others?

whut? the KP3 doesn't use balanced inputs, so that won't helpcardboardcorn wrote:You should get 1/84h inch balanced cables.. 2 of them. Balanced should help clear up any possible static and also get 2 1/4th" -> 1/8th inch adaptors. This should let you do exactly as you wanted originally :] using a firewire cable is more for data transfer and midi.

in this pic it looks like you have a single cable connected to both input and output. the that aint gonna work. you need two cables, one for the computer TO the KP3 and one to the computer FROM the KP30oelineeo0 wrote: http://i33.tinypic.com/9utbhf.jpg

there's not a lot of point showing only one end of the cables (unless they have identical connections at the other end)0oelineeo0 wrote:

don't worry about names, look at the type of connections, and the number of connections, and get the right sort of cable to connect A to B0oelineeo0 wrote: and could you give me the exact name of the cables I have to buy?
your soundcard has stereo 1/8" jack plugs, and the KP3 has two RCA (aka phono) plugs. so get a cable that has 1/8" on one end, and two RCA connectors on the other end. connect that from the soundcard's output to the KP3's input.
and then get another of those cables. connect that from the KP3's output to the soundcard's input.
It's not rocket science.
if you're really stuck, take your KP3 into a shop that sells cables and ask them to sell you something that will connect it to your soundcard. point at the back of the KP3, grunt and wave your arms about.

i put links of y cables up already...
I agree... its not rocket science.. but dont be suprised I have friends who had to tie the shoe laces of djs who were playing the main stage at the ULTRA party WMC 2010. I think its like math for some people... some people can do it in their head.. others cannot.. Im not an audio hook up expert... but its like legos... you put the peg in the hole.
