Hi guys
just got my KAOSS pad yesterday, ive been having trouble getting it to talk to the computer (Windows XP) when i open the KP3 editor and click recieve all i get a message informing me that the KP3 is not found, and when i go into the settings and try to select the KAOSS Pad manually its not listed in the MIDI in and out devices list...
Additionally im interested in the MIDI in port on the KP3 - whats this for? Is it just for clock signals or can you connect a MIDI keyboard and play the synths on the KP3 with that?
Cheers
-Robert.
//Edit: After some investigation it seems that installation of the KORG USB MIDI driver prevents the KP3 from being recognised as a MIDI controller by FL Studio and it seems to be screwing things up somehow with the KP3 editor, after some messing around i managed to sort of get the two to recognise each other. However when i try and recieve all i get a message alerting me to a broken MIDI message or something like that.....
When trying to transmit to the KAOSS pad i get an error message saying "Timeout"
:/

My advice a la the USB MIDI is to uninstall the Korg USB-MIDI driver and reinstall it (or the latest one). Someone else (or a search in the forum) will have to help you further with this though, I'm afraid. This side of computers isn't my forte.
As for the standard MIDI In port, it is to control the KP3's functions from an external device as well as for MIDI sync. You won't be able, however, to play the on-board synths/drum patterns with a keyboard though, I don't think, as the pad will only respond to CC messages.

I would say the majority of the USB issues come down to 2 things:
1. Your Midi port in windows is not within the top 10. I've heard someone say this is a windows issue but I think it's a Korg issue myself. Anyhow I had to delete a lot of old midi devices using the included uninstall software Korg Provides to insure my K Pro and K3 existed within the first 10 midi devices.
2. Also be sure you are not filtering the MIDI Sys.e messages. If you do you'll get the timeout/not found issues.
OB

hi
im getting the same message when trying to transmit or recieve using kp3editor. however I can access it as a removeable disk in my computer. (running on win xp)
can you tell me how to check my midi port is not in the top ten?
and how to check im not filtering MIDI sys.e messages!
would be very grateful
Also can anybody confirm whether all filenames can only be numerical plus file extention (up to maximum value) or whether you can have alphabetical file names eg numberone.kpa
thankyous in advance
