Hello Korg forum-

Long time fan. First time poster.

Has anyone experienced this issue on the Kaossilator Pro?

Virtually any loops made using the internal sound generator have nasty clicks/pops at the splice points. It renders the loop functions virtually unusable for 90% of the sounds. I understand looping and have tried every trick I can think of (like, for example, starting the sound on the '2' and releasing on '7'....or using dry, staccato sounds that don't have delay trails) but no matter what I do there is a hideous click at the start of every loop.

I'm using a SanDisk class 4 SD card (one of several that I also use with my Kaoss Pad) and have the latest firmware.

Has anyone else run into this? I'm skeptical that it is a hardware or media problem...

Try holding the bank down (or just keeping it recording if you record hands free) for a little while after you finished "performing".

it comes from starting or stopping a bank while holding down on the touchpad...since you are touching and turning on/off a loop, its thinking you want to record while you are holding the button down, hence you get a really short recording of the synth part and it comes out as a pop.

Hi Ian - I think I may have a solution for you.

Under the Utility Menu turn Sync to off.

You lose the sync to BPM but you also lose
the infuriating little clicks at the loop-point.

i will try disabling the sync tonight and see if that helps, but that seems like a tradeoff one shouldn't have to make to get clean loops using an internal signal generator.. unless i am missing something

unfortunately i have already tried holding the bank button down a little longer (through the 1) and i always start loop recording by pressing the bank button first, then the touchpad. no joy...

Ian - You may not miss the sync-to-BPM anyway.

hey man, i am absolutely sure the popping comes from turning on or off a bank while playing on the touchpad...once i stopped doing that, all the pops went away. Also, instead of holding the button longer, you need to make sure you stop looping on the last 16th note of the phrase rather than on 1, like any good looper

it's like night and day. and you're right, it probably won't be missed. also now that i'm not afraid of all the clicks and pops i'm digging the loop recorder like never before.

I have tried switching the sync to off but after a little while of using the KO-Pro the clicking still persists no matter what. It makes it totally useless. Is my KO-Pro faulty? Its a shame, ive had nothing but disappointment with this product.

The problem is: as a man at sea I got this item in a country I do not live in. Is the warranty still valid?

There's a night and day difference on my ko-pro when the bpm sync is enabled/disabled. It's pretty much useless for loops with it on as the pops are so nasty.

The OS on the ko-pro is pretty half baked and overall the unit is a bit of a disappointment. I still love it and use it regularly because the basic design and functionality are so slick that I live with all the irksome little downers. I remain hopeful that some of the more obvious limitations and oversights and bugs get worked out.

On the warranty front I am pretty sure it's only valid in the country where it was purchased....

Do let us know if you find a fix. I'd contact Korg and see if they can provide any insight.

Im probably going to have to sell it. But I dont want to by another one to find out it also does this. Ive heard a lot of people having the clicking trouble. Why would Korg release a product that has a horrible click at the start of every loop and have the embarrassment to call it a 'pro' version? To be honest I was wanting to get rid of it because its total junk but the only reason I am wanting to buy another is because it passes the time when at sea and its easy for me to put in my luggage. Other than that reason I think this product is horrible. I pray that they bring out a firmware release because if they think this product is acceptable then I dont want to try anymore of their new stuff. And ive been a Korg user for many many years. My small studio at home has quite a few Korg goodies in it.

Although it may not be the most pleasant diagnosis, the clicks are due to the user's technique.

Better than cancer though, eh?

agreed....i was able to eliminate all popping with some simple technique changes like I said earlier...
