it appears that the 8 notes of a scale do not match up with the 8 squares on the pad is this normal?

it is....i found myself that if you go into utilities and turn off touch pad correction it seems to get better...maybe it is in my head, maybe it works...but no one seems to know what touch pad correction does...to me it makes things line up better, but not perfectly.

I agree. the pad becomes more playable with the correction off.

I can't find it right now - but there's a thread somewhere on this forum where someone described a hidden utility for adjusting the response of the outside edges of the pad. I followed the instructions and the squares now fit the 1-Octave scales quite closely. In 2-octave mode you don't have the wide edges and have to turn your finger a bit to get the highest and lowest notes but I've been much happier playing the KOscP after the adjustments. Happy searching!
