Looks like missing USB to Midi link problem is going to be solved soon. A third party solution is going to breath a new life in Korg Nano series products, and opening many other interesting ways of music gear connectivity. Can't wait when this becomes available - after NAMM 2011 obviously.

This is really good. I've been waiting for someone to make this for ages. There are so many cool MIDI controllers that are USB only, which isn't much good for someone who doesn't really use a computer for music.

without a computer, though, how do you tell something like the nano pads which channel to correspond to? I have been looking for a way to control my mc 303 without using their little buttons...hooking something to it with pads would be a real game-changer

You would still have to use the PC to program it. But the settings for the nanoKontrol, etc are stored in the device, not the computer.
