Judging by the fact that Korg recently updated the Electribe series with the newer model (note that I would not consider it an 'upgrade'. It is just a slightly newer hardware version of the same product), suggests to me that it is still selling fairly well.
And for korg to release a new version, they must have run some kind of fairly high volume production run, otherwise it just wouldn't be worth it.
So I'm sad to say it, but we probably won't see a new Electribe for two or three years.
If you want to save some money, you could try to get the older '-1' models instead of the newer '-SD' version.
