Hello everyone,
I'm the proud owner of a 2nd hand Radias currently on the Fed-ex truck as we speak. Picked it up from a sale through Craig's List in Nashville.
According to the owner, it doesn't come with any CD's or anything, and it's never been updated to the current OS.
What should be the first thing I do once I receive it?
Is it difficult to update the OS, and is there a link describing the steps involved?
Thanks for your help.
Regards
AJ

First of all, go to the Korg site, go to the Radias, go to the support tab/section, and download the USB-MIDI driver.
Then also download the v2.0 updater. Note that the sound editor for OS2.0 is included in the updater zip archive. If you download the seperate 'sound editor' it is the v1.0 editor and will not support the additional parameters on the Radias.
There should also be clear instructions on what to do in the file. Make sure you read them.
If you are on a PC, then the driver installation (do this first) can be a bit confusing.
You run the installer and think "right, its installed". But it isn't. The drivers are copied to your system but you need to plug in the Radias and actually tell it to use the Korg drivers rather than the default windows ones. Fortunately, Korg provides a utility for this.
Plug in the Radias. Cancel any messages that come up. Then go to:
Start > Programs > Korg > USB-MIDI Driver > Install Korg USB MIDI Device
Select the radias and hit 'install'. Or something like that.
On a Mac it is easier. None of this complicated driver stuff is needed. You just install the drivers and they're there.
I can't remember the update installation, so make sure you study the included PDFs/notes carefully.
Summary:
1. Go to Korg's website and download the latest drivers and OS update
2. Install the USB-MIDI Driver.
3. Plug in the Radias. If you're on a PC, use the Korg utility to apply the driver.
4. Reboot. This probably isn't necessary but it'll make you feel better.
5. Run through the updater process.
6. Install the latest sound editor included with the updater download.
Of course, it may already be updated. It may have come with 2.0 already on it. When you turn it on, it should tell you the OS version on the splash screen.

Supposing my OS2 is the same than yours X-Trade, the version isn't displayed at power on. You have to keep pressed the [CURSOR UP/LEFT] + [CURSOR DOWN/RIGHT] + [MASTER FX ON] keys while turning the power on to get the version info. This also sets the Radias in USB Update mode. Turning it off and on again returns to normal operationX-Trade wrote: Of course, it may already be updated. It may have come with 2.0 already on it. I must have been getting confused between my Radias and my KARMA
Although really, one screen is red, the other is blue...

my 2c is the first thing you should do when you get it is (before you upgrade the OS) I would say is to back it up.
So get it connected as X-trade outlines above, then use the editor to back up all data. That way you can get it back to your original state if you need to. And anyway, there might be some non-factory sounds on your board which you might want to use again.

Have you downloaded the most recent midi drivers?
Once you have those, go to your radias editor (latest version of course). Then go to preferences. Make sure your radias is connected with a USB-midi cable.
For midi in box, there will be a radias option - select it. For the midi out there will also be a radias option - select that. This set-up works for me and hopefully it will for you too. Then you can updgrade the OS
