I have just started using the kp3.I wanted to know if there is any way I can record everything I do on the Kp3 as I am doing it.Mostly what I do is I loop a beat and then add harmonies and other effects and then move on to another beat and so on.So I wanted to know if you can record the entire process of making the track right from beginning to end by using some sort of software.

Yes, of course. You'll have to plug your KP3's output into the input of your computer's audio interface. I believe it can be done with the on-board audio input but a dedicated audio interface is better. As for the software, the choice is really up to you and there is a lot of it. For just general linear recording on a budget, I would highly recommend Reaper. You can actually use it for free, uncrippled, forever, but they would of course prefer you to buy a license (only £25/$40 anyway).

I invested in a Behringer U-Control UCA222. It's a super simple RCA -> USB interface. A very fast and cheap way to cleanly record the KP3's output. I paid like 30 bucks for it and it came with a load of software, including some basic audio editing software which is really all you would need. Can't vouch for the software, though, I just use it with Garageband and it works beautifully.

The software and drivers that Behringer bundle with it are actually all things which are available for free online anyway.
The windows ASIO driver isn't even a proper driver, its just ASIO4ALL Behringer Edition.
But it is pretty good value for money.

I have the KP3 plugged in between my speakers and computer. The audio out going in to the kp and the kps out going to speakers, so i can effect and sample any audio coming from my laptop. I was curious, can i record this process with just the Behringer U-Control UCA222, or do i need a mixer also?
I have the U-Control plugged in, but i seem to be getting only the built in sounds from the pad (synths, drums). So the sound from the computer dosent go throught the kp3 anymore. The music still plays, but the effects dont apply to it anymore. Whats the problem?

This is my setup:
RCA going from my amplifier to the mixers main mix output.
The mixers 2-Track tape out is going to the Behringer U-controls Input.
The Behringer U-controls Output is then going to the KP3´s Input.
And finally The KP3´s Output is going back to the mixers Tape In.
The U-control is concected by usb, KP3 also. The mixer is ALTO AMX-100
I use Reaper to record (works perfectly for recording only the sounds from the KP or live mixing/mastering your tracks.
The problem is, when the recording from the reaper is done, the sound is very low compared to the live session that is been recorded.
I have the KP on direct and FX release is all the way up and the sound has been adjusted so that the peak doesn't give any distortion to the sound. The mixer is also adjusted to normal levels, so no peaks. FX Depth is also adjusted and the KP is on Select Line.
What gives?
