I have an octave A in my left hand and CE in the right hand. pretty basic. I have an A minor I want an A minor. I can't have an A minor. This is pop 6/8 Falling in love. You should get an A minor right out of the box like the PA80 did.
I have to add the third in the left hand to get the accompaniment to play an A minor. Sure I can putz around with it. Figure out how to reconfigure the style. Re-learn a different performing style. Why? Because Korg didn't feel like doing the quality work on the software or the stylemaking, whatever you did on the PA80.
This is a nice keyboard, but you cut corners and it sucks. I think the discussion before was letting you off the hook, because nobody could believe you really let quality control slack off and call it "good enough." Its not. let me know if you get an OS that won't freeze it up and will read the chords.

something pretty

and if it was just one style or just imported styles... no big deal. but the scanner can't read the accompaniment chords. Lots of them. If you had band practise and someone was doing this they would get kicked out in a minute. The PA500 is just not passing the audition that the PA80 passed. I have a lot of keyboards that's why I haven't griped here in a while.

Perhaps you could alter the chord recognition mode?
It's a global setting.

Thanks Fransman..

Yeah that is a step in the right direction. I don't need the arranger doing everything, but I don't need it playing the wrong chords. That chord recognition setting is clearing it up, but I don't have the manual handy and its been random and I don't understand how it works... but some of the other settings are making it follow the chords I'm using. thanks a lot

I switched from the PA50 to the 500 a few months ago, and there are more options on the chord recognition. You just have to really read the manual and work with it a while.

Hi Paul

for oktave A and CE you can simply use the bass-inversion, to get an A minor.
I think you have to learn to play with the expert and fingered-mode.
All modes have rules. When you learn this rules, you can play all what you want.
And look for the scan-mode (upper-lower). That is very important.

thanks for the input

yeah its sounding better. I never tweaked anything on my PA80 so when I found some wrong chords coming out of the PA500 I was bothered. thanks for pointing out the options in chord recognition.
