Should I get an Apogee Duet if i have S/PDIF TOsLINK?

I want the best audio quality for my Korg M3 compositions. My Macpro has S/PDIF (optical cable) audio in. Could i use this for my sounds. Or if i want the best audio quality i should go for the duet?
