Korg owes you NOTHING after an instrument has been DISCONTINUED.
Excuse me, what about the Exf????? How would you explain that?
That was promised to us BEFORE it was discontinued!
(Otherwise you would be correct)

I know that thread well. My question still stands. Or see my signature.
I haven't found an official statement about the end of software development for OASYS.

That is gross misrepresentation and a betrayal in any language -

KORG DID DEVELOP OASYS, AND MADE IT SO THEY COULD MAKE MORE MONEY WITH NO REGARD FOR CURRENT O USERS.

No one could explain it better, cello.

cello wrote: Really? How has it been discontinued when the whole concept, all it's functions (plus a couple of new modules and buttons) is lifted and put into a new box that just happens to to be priced to compete with fantom and motif?

Yes, O users were told not to expect any further development for the O. Bitterly disappointing for those users at the time - which in itself broke the open and future upgrade promises, which continues to cause deep, meaningful disappointment - the O cost $8.5k new, remember.

Then this absolute miracle of a keyboard that is a true work of genius emerges, completely out of the blue, that is a straight copy of the OASYS concept proves that Korg was somewhat economical with the truth.

KORG DID DEVELOP OASYS AND MADE IT SO THEY COULD MAKE MORE MONEY WITH NO REGARD FOR CURRENT O USERS.

It's as blatant as that. Korg said it was discontinued and developed it behind closed doors. That is gross misrepresentation and a betrayal in any language - a point proved in that in none of the presentation or marketing material does the Kronos attribute anything, any way to the OASYS product (even telling Jordan Rudess to not mention OASYS but only to 'a Korg instrument') . Look at the specs - around 80% of Kronos IS OASYS. So development wasn't discontinued, was it?

I think there are a few good points here to be fair. I too wonder why there is hardly any mention of the OASYS at all from KORG. All they ever do really is go on and on in their advertising blurb about the legacy of the M1 workstation concept. The Jordan Rudess comment is sooo true.... "Korg Instrument"... please don't insult our intelligence,we know what you want to say but can't . :)

No offence to KORG but the KRONOS owes more to OASYS development than M1 but you could use" chicken and egg" argument from that statement. As to the question of whether or not Korg owe OASYS owners anything,I'm afraid they have answered that with the KRONOS and it's an emphatic NO!!!!!!!!!!

They have given you all the engines and then some for a start in with the cost. I bet if you haven't added those engines to your OASYS yet, they are still $249 to purchase on Korg user.net

Don't hold your breath for any freebies people. I voted for they should give something for free but I know it wont happen. No point in being bitter about it though hey, life's too short.

Nor you will, Ankos.

I´m afraid we won´t hear nothing at all from now on regarding the OASYS.

Really???

Where did you read that?

JR is my fave keys player, Dream Theater my fave band - I know exactly what keyboard JR will be playing on the next tour with the new drummer!

If I'm right, THAT may well prove how much compatibility there is between the O & the K if he switches to the K as one of Korg's highest-profile users, as it's obvious how much work it took to get all his sounds set up in the O alone pretty much when he ditched the Kurzweil 2600SX he was using for DT live stuff.

Totally agree - that's the biggest piss-take of all with the KRONOS!

(Oh is that my soapbox?)

:-(

Hi fallingman - the Rudess comment comes from his part in the 54 min youtube video about the Kronos launch. In it he doesn't talk about using his O on stage, no - he refers to his Korg instrument :?

Wasn't me that noticed it have to say - was commented by several people in the huge 'Korg Kronos?' Latest News thread.

I hope your soapbox is big as there a growing number of folks who are standing right next to you!

In a Spanish forum (www.hispasonic.com) we (oasys users) are thinking about write a letter to Korg asking for an update for Oasys and complaining of the treatment.
Are there volunteers here to participate?.

Akos, you're very optimistic and friendly by your nature, and I sincerely wish that your optimism would bring something to us from Korg, however, I've learned since my purchase of the O, to add salt to such optimism.

I'm sorry, but our "elite club" of gentlemen, smoking cigars, hanging out in our large wooden esoteric library with a glass of cognac in one hand is almost over.

Thanks to the Kronos, which at a fraction of the price of the Oasys, will invite dirty, polluted, moral-less teenagers wearing braces and all their drugs into our environment.

Perhaps thats what we need though, a set of energetic teenagers to create some new sound sets to share with the rest of us.
The bigger the user base, the more chance there is of 3rd party software (such as an editor) to eventually come out?

So perhaps, by a small miracle, the Kronos is both a kick in the balls for Oasys users, but a window opener too.....

OK, I still hope it's true, at least from owners point of view. We've got a rarity.
