Yes, O users were told not to expect any further development for the O. Bitterly disappointing for those users at the time - which in itself broke the open and future upgrade promises, which continues to cause deep, meaningful disappointment - the O cost $8.5k new, remember.
Then this absolute miracle of a keyboard that is a true work of genius emerges, completely out of the blue, that is a straight copy of the OASYS concept proves that Korg was somewhat economical with the truth.
KORG DID DEVELOP OASYS AND MADE IT SO THEY COULD MAKE MORE MONEY WITH NO REGARD FOR CURRENT O USERS.
It's as blatant as that. Korg said it was discontinued and developed it behind closed doors. That is gross misrepresentation and a betrayal in any language - a point proved in that in none of the presentation or marketing material does the Kronos attribute anything, any way to the OASYS product (even telling Jordan Rudess to not mention OASYS but only to 'a Korg instrument') . Look at the specs - around 80% of Kronos IS OASYS. So development wasn't discontinued, was it?

100% agree as you would expect. I can't be bothered looking too close but isn't the Kronos panel layout virtually the same as Oasys?......well apart from Korg saving production costs by not including a FUNCTION button
Korg seem to think that by calling it Kronos instead of Oasys 2 we won't realise it's from the same (discontinued) stable. And I don't particularly appreciate being considered stupid

Maybe Oasys owners should just refer to Kronos as Oasys 2 from now on.

I just don't understand how can anybody say: "Korg thinks we are stupid". Korg is not stupid to think that.
Anyway, why this board is called KRONOS besides the 9 engines? Is it also an abbreviation like OASYS? (Please don't joke now, I would like to know if there's a real solution.
)

I don't think its an abbreviation, consider it in the realm similar to:
Trinity
Triton
Trident

I have serious news about this topic.
The real story run like this:
Toyota owned the name "Oasys", and they planned to release a hybrid under that name.
When they realized the name was taken by Korg, more or less three years ago, they sued Korg.
Pending the suit, Korg stopped the Oasys's evolution and started thinking of a way out.
It took 3 years for the lawsuit to get near a conclusion,
and apparently Korg was on the verge of losing on the name use (but winning some on the commercial damage to having to stop the Oasys series),
so they settled.
The settlement includes a restriction on Korg to NEVER EVER MENTIONING AGAIN "Oasys".
On the other end, in the settlement Korg got enough money
to develop the Kronos.
I have this for sure from a friend of my cousin.
He also said
Waldorf could be getting near a decade-long-sought agreement with the Prinz Hindenburg real estate.
So, after they release a Ford-GT-40-like electric piano named the
Zarenburg
they will be able to release a
digital/analog hybrid synth named
either the
Prinz
or the
Hindenburg

Yes, it might happen - I may be foolish in thinking it. But I believe it. But only if we show a strong case and we do it together.

This diskstreaming feature is not a big thing, software sampler use this many years, I had a piano plugin running (The Grand) on a P3-600Mhz with a slow IDE Drive and 512MB RAM without any dropouts... so with an O and 2 GB of RAM (and without the windows brake in the background) it's not a problem at all! I think the main reason for the SSD: it's quiter and it's not so sensitive when you take the Kronos with you on tour...

But the difference is, that was on a computer!
This is a synthesizer workstation, musical instrument.
you can't compare apples and a wooden plank.
