Just another (positive!) thought...

Don't roll your eyes - I mean it; am trying to be positive!

Perhaps Korg, by being blissfully unaware ( ) of any negative impact the 'young pretender' will have on O resale value, etc, may just have given us O users a real earning opportunity...

Imagine if we all changed every combi, editing every program, shifting vector controls, effect routings, etc, etc, would we not be able to sell the collections to Kronos users?

I read that Danatkorg as confirmed that all O sounds (and samples) can be imported into the K. So therefore it's doable.

And imagine all those preset-hungry mass-market users happy to part with money for new sounds 8) Some of us here have 6 years experience to offer (I have much less although am learning quickly now!)

See - am trying to be positive!

The chances are good that I'm one of the totally clueless victims.

So where are your sounds?
You probably got time until May to turn some knobs and present the overwhelming results.

And of course you expected that I want to hear a one minute demo of each Patch/Combi you offer?

LOL, now's the perfect opportunity to reach for that marvelous OASYS Randomizer for Windows util Daz so kindly made for us a few years back. :)

Watch this space... I am putting together some plans that will introduce a whole new way of buying sounds - but not just for Korg; will be for all manufacturers :) 8)

Never did use it although I have a copy. My idea doesn't rely on that but for some people who use it and get good results could make some nice $$$$ out of it...

Daz' Randomizer is a great tool to get to sounds you normally would not program. I highly recommend it.... and btw feel sorry, that Daz is no longer around. Would be interested to know his point of view concerning O&K... not "ok" - but I am getting off topic.

Greetings Folks,
I'm wintering down here in sunny Florida and all the good commotion about OASYS' new brother KRONOS certainly has my anticipation boiling. I can't wait to get my hands on Korg's latest WS. If, as Dan states, KRONOS can load combis from the OASYS, then hopefully all my work in the O will not have been in vain. True, Stephen and I converted Catalyst v 1 from the OASYS to the M3 thereby reaching a greater user base. But, to be sure, that was not an easy task. Doable, but not easy. Now, if all of my Catalyst collections (I have two more waiting in the wings) can be simply dropped in to a KRONOS with minor tweaks, then my boiling anticipation will definitely become a steam engine.

I have yet to do a one-to-one comparison of the GEs and Programs, but if I see that they line reasonably well, then I am confident that more than a few "new" KRONOS owners are going to be pleasantly surprised.

Here's to GOOD KARMA everyone!
Cheers,
Jim (aka EJ2)

What's the Randomizer?

I would be very interested in a program, combi, or effect that introduced truly random, small fluctuations in pitch or other characteristics. That would give a more human feel to strings, horns, voices, etc.

Randomizer is a software programmed by former KF co-founder Darren Richards aka "Daz". You can use it for randomization in AL-1, MS-20 and Polysix. It has a simple layout which lets you define the depth of Randomization. Beside choosing the MIDI Channels and MIDI Port it is all you get access to. And that's good.

I am afraid for the purpose you are looking for it is not the right tool. But it is great in case you are after new synthesizer sounds one - at least me - would not have programmed that way. My favourite MS-20 solo sound is one of the results, one of the intro sounds (seems to be reversed) of "2k7 remix" another. Somewhere on the blog I have some demos and I guess the link. At the moment my OASYS offers half a Sound Bank full of what I call "iRandom" programs. They are not those which you would like to listen in a musicstore - they do not impress at all - but they work great in songs.

I am not sure whether Randomizer is still available. As mentioned already in one of my blog entries I think there is a link. Daz provided it for Windows and Macs but I am not sure whether these links are still working.

Yes, there is a Windows version of the randomizer; I have that.

I can upload it to my server if it's useful.

Ask and ye shall receive... (wish Korg worked that way... ;) )

There are two exes in the zip - the librarian and the randomizer. Hope you enjoy :)

+1 and, who will write the converting program for Kronos HDR/MOD7/LAC sounds to be loaded into OASYS?
