Hey all,
Does anyone have any info about this? They seem to have a bunch of new products on their website, new prices, hardware upgrades for older generation of synths and stuff. Soundslate PRO, i7 Gen5 upgrade... What's the deal with them? Are they out of liquidation?
Asking just out of general curiosity. Absolutely don't want to buy anything they do.

The soundslate PRO is the only new thing, the others got some minor hardware upgrades, and the D-beat among others are not available anymore..vEddY wrote:Hey all,

They announced (Open Labs) that they would be on nAMM, but i haven't seen any evidence of that...

And on a more personal note - Soundslate PRO is a laughable product considering its price.

Open Labs had some serious debt (with some banks) and filed for bankruptcy. A group of investors (including some of the existing owners) purchased the company at a liquidation sale (the assets were sold as a block) and the company has re-opened for business. The new owners kept most of the existing employees.
Just FYI, the former CEO of OpenLabs, Victor Wong, opened his own new company, Music Computing:

The owners kept more then just the name... they also kept the rights to sell the hardware and the rights to sell the software parts... (i don't know if there are any patents involved with this) but they bought more then just the company name....
But they lost Victor Wong, which to me was the man with all the great ideas and innovation....
I don't expect much from Openlabs anymore, they are clearly aiming studios and professionals, while most of the money can be made from selling the offspin from those expensive products for way less money to Amateurs and home users...

I did not say anything about just keeping the name. The new owners bought all the assets, which I am sure included some patents.
