Ozy, you violated your warranty by having your M3 custom painted.
So of course you should not be entitled to any warranty service from Korg, or their authorized service centers.
That is the reason why you are forced to rely on 3rd party/others to help you with future problems, because its your own fault.
Simple logic. Case closed
As for the service manual of the Oasys - Korg has implied onto its service centers - by signed contract to not give out copies.
.....Still waiting for the allusive, missing EXf for Oasys.....
Why should Korg (your supplier) take "your side" when you've breached the very stipulations that are outlined in the manual?
Just because you bought one of their products, dosen't mean they should comply to offer service, when you've raped it?
Again, simple logic, case solved!
.....Still waiting for the allusive, missing EXf for Oasys.....
Korg has no obligation of giving me support or spare parts.
4) the Italian official Korg service is inefficient (as in "they don't even have a phone number. You send them e-mail, they don't answer for weeks/months")
5) I am afraid I'll have to find spare parts on e-bay if it breaks down
6) I paid for the instrument in full
7) I protect my investment by buying some spare parts on the parallel market and by finding a service manual though the grapevine
I occasionaly resell these parts and give away for free documentation.
8 ) I got a non-authorized Korg service to support me.
The owner gave me his cell-phone for emergencies and answers to routine calls within the day or the following morning. He charged me 50 euros for a spare case which Korg Italy sold me at 250.
9) I didn't ask danatkorg for permission on any of the above.
Am i violating some law? Really?
Come on, Korg, sue me, let's check this against common law.
Oh: as soon as I buy another Korg instrument, I'll repeat the routine.
So, don't sell me anything if you don't like clients to look under the hood by themselves.
ozy, absolutely spot on. And yet another example of Korg treating high end customers like the garbage we are
Yes, I forgot to mention that creepy and slightly underworldish terms like "parallel market" and "grapevine" translate into "customers".
THAT entails a WHOLE body of laws, customs and rules, which weren't mentioned here.
But you know, the customer/supplier relation is "old", "passé". We are fellow musicians, after all. How can you blame a chap if he is late with deliveries or changes his mind? Come on, relax and let's talk music, stop talking money...
If I am NOT tony montana and am NOT above the law,
Korg is certainly NOT an above-the-law Church either.
There's laws, and there's customs and commercial rules.
This is why going to a judge is always refreshing. They know customs, not just laws as they sound in writing.
The answer to the copyright; it is illegal to SELL Korg's manuals as your own.
That they are published and distributed "free" on the net is irrelevant. The only legal copies are (a) the one printed by Korg, (b) the one you print for yourself (own use, aka "fair use") and keep.
It is legal to buy a KORG copy from another person. They can sell without permission or penalty... used books - no different. It is legal for you to include a PDF copy, burned from the net with a sale, since you could argue that it is free distribution as INTENDED by KORG in posting to the web.
It is still illegal (tho' generally unenforced) to buy or sell copies you make of copyrighted material - even if obtained legally, in this case the "harmless" service manual.
The law applies both to "harmless, free" material as well as other intellectual property like CD's and DVD's.
So "It's a Wonderful Life" may be on free broadcast TV a dozen times a day in December, but burning a copy and SELLING it, even if not a part of a commercial enterprise, would be a violation under the law. Because you burned it TO sell it, i.e., benefit from sale of copyrighted material.
The SERVICE manual, as opposed to the OWNER'S manual, is probably under tighter control (not for sale, not net distributed) because unauthorized service violates the warrantee. Anything that impacts KORG's obligation to pay (or NOT pay) out of their pocket they will want to retain as their sole possession. Copyright is their only real mechanism to maintain that control.

I still have the original case intact.
Ha!
"Say hello to my little friend!"
Well, hmmm, say hello to a bigger friend called Truth.
Ozy, dissasembling your M3, consitutes a violation about tampering with a product.
You're not allowed, as a private customer, without authorization I might add, to take apart your equipment whatsoever without voiding the warranty!
Its easy Ozy, its in the manual!

I'm going to apply that standard to all replies to you in the future, starting with this one!

Re email: perhaps you're not sending to the correct address, or your spam filters are blocking their response. One of the two is usually the case when I follow up on a customer complaint regarding lack of response to an email.

The above implies that I or Korg threatened you with some legal action. In the spirit of "check it versus reality": this is false.
