PA500 -> PA588 ?

A few years ago I bought my PA500 and I am still very happy with it. Great instrument.
I play it almost every day (that is to say: mostly at night 8); at home only.

More and more, I like to play the piano- and el piano-sounds.

So this is the idea: maybe the time has come to step up to the PA588. This instrument is similar to PA500, but with a full piano keyboard.

- What do you think is the best option: upgrading to PA588, or is a digital piano a better choice?

- What's it like to play synth sounds for instance on a piano-keyboard?

- Are there PA588 users out there that can give their opinion on this matter?

Thanks,

I like PA 588

I own PA500 but I am thinking of switching to PA588. I play out at a lot of small performances. The Professional Arrangers are the best for performing simple gigs. The PA500 is so light and easy to haul. The PA 588 is great for playing these gigs and if you also have to play classical piano and they dont' have a piano. but you have to lug heavier equipmnet.
If you are just using it at home think of it this way.. you are going to play with the same sounds and style functions and you have a full size piano to play too.
The other big difference is that the PA588 speakers are better and louder. Yyou have 4 speakers. Two Bass and Two tweeters. The PA500 has dual cone which is like two speakers in one and they're quieter at full volume. Ttheyre bothey great though.

Thanks,
Frans, I don't own one, but I think if you send Rob Sherratt a PM, he may give you his opinion. He DOES have one, together with an M3..

Just a thought.

Dennis

PS: I only suggest a PM, as he is very busy getting the Groove Rack ready for Musik Messe, and he does not spend much time looking at the PA series forums anymore.

I would suggest to keep PA500 and buy a stage piano! This way you will have always a great piano while you play live with your PA500 on top!

Yes, that's a bit of a dilemma.
I'm thinking of buying a Casio Privia PX330 (or Korg SP) and midi-connecting it with my PA500.
(yes, Casio! Privia seems to be a pritty good buy when it comes to digital piano's).
But on the other hand; two instruments in my living room might be a bit too pompous.
But... there are pretty good/handy instrument standards out there nowadays: for instance:

PA588 seems to be the best solution, but also more expensive, even when (if) I can sell my PA500 for a fair price.

Still confused.

I went through a similiar process last year when looking to buy a new set of key's. I was initially looking at buying a e-piano with a proper keyboard plus something along the lines of a PA500. After a few months of to and fro, and looking at prices I decided to go for a PA-588 instead of an e-piano plus keyboard.
Main reason was the 88 keys (and the PA-588 keyboard is excellent to play!) and not having a second piece knocking around. Given I mainly play at home I don't care too much about the weight, and the 588 does all I need (at the moment).
