Kp3 problem - voltage (abusedstupidity)

Hy korg "owner".
i bought a kp3 from USA and you probably know the story.
Just because the store was off i try to put the 110v adaptor into 220v connection.. Now it doesn't light up, it's "maybe" burn inside.
I'm just an ass i was tired of my long day and just don't think

Now it's done...
What i was wonder to know is what is the best thing to do ?
Send it to a guy who can repair some electronic stuff and make it repair for like 200£ (diagnostic + possible work on it)
Try to use an another power adapter but with the correct rate (220v)
Or just s**t brick on it...

I search for the adapter but can't find the right connector, it's a special one and i don't see a korg switzerland support !

Let me know what could be the best to do beside killing myself !

i had this happen in the Philippines with a 60/120 Ka203 AC adaptor. mistakenly plugged it into 240 (i was told it was on a step-down) and POOF. when i got home a week later the KP3 still smelled like scorched PCB.

i thought it might only have been the AC adaptor that fried but could not get a ka203 or anything even close on short notice in Manila. we tried grafting the connector onto several aftermarket 12v supplies but even with wiring that i know was good we got nothing from the AC brick and nothing from the kp3.

when i took it in for service they told me that i'd indeed fried the main board and that it was not cost effective to fix (with labor it would have been almost 300 US). i bit the bullet and bought another one and hope to someday re-purpose the touch pad on the scorched one.. since then i travel with spares and even picked up a couple of aftermarket dual voltage supplies. annoyingly, the KoPro ships with a dual voltage adaptor, but not the kp3..

Yeah it's seems burned in fact it smells like !

I'm still search for the right power adaptor because i just buy another kp3 and a kaossilator pro from US !
I don't want to do a mistake again so if someone have info about proper powersupply in Switzerland from korg let me know !

there are aftermarket AC adaptors out there that are dual voltage, if that helps. i don't have the one below but i have a similar one and it does the trick.

thanks ! but i need an adaptor for this one too because we didn't use the same two pin to connect the powerpoint !
I have so many gear i couldnt afford more adaptor !

I someone know a dealer of classic power supply for Eu like the one they sell with the product in Switzerland !

Just get a 12VDC center positive 700ma adapter that will work on 220-240VAC.

That DC adapter has different plugs that you can use, so you can pick the one that fits. It needs to have the center positive, and the outside/shield as negative. This can be measured with an inexpensive multimeter/voltmeter, where the inside is +12V with respect to the outside of the plug. Many of these adapters can be used with either center positive or center negative, so you need to read the manual to see how it works, then you can use the multimeter to double check it. It's very useful to learn how to use a multimeter to check a voltage, because you can use it for lots of purposes, like checking batteries and testing for good connections (continuity).

yes i buy a multimeter 6 months ago but still completly not know how to use it ! I search for tuts on the net but english only and my multimeter is like a chinese weird one !
It do work all the same way but i can mesure the right voltage where i want !
If you have some advice on how to use it (in french would be nice) !
