NanoPad for beat looping in the background

I'm thiniking of getting the nanoPad. I'm just wondering if I can assign loops to each pad and use them as abckground beat while I jam on my keyboard.

Also if I can set it up so that when I choose a pad, it cancels the rest and only plays the one I chose.

the nanoPad is just a USB controller that sends messages to your software.

If you know of any software that can do what you ask, then Yes you can do it.

(one piece of software that comes to mind for this is Ableton Live)
