I nominate Ozy. He may abuse his mod powers constantly, but I'm sure it'd be hilarious (unless you're one of those he indiscriminately gives the ban hammer).
Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha).
Well if the old thread has gone and there is no way to bring it back, maby it is a good idea to make a new thread for ur friend?Sharp wrote:No, not yet. It will be very soon though, I've just got to get my ass in gear.Sharp, is the forum hosting already financed by Korg? Is there a relation with the removal?
As for what actually happened, well.... I honestly don't know. Daz and I talked about it quite a bit, but it's hard to know. That's kind of why I was hoping the IP would help, but I guess Daz didn't find what he was looking for even though he has full access to every inch of the server.
As was said in emails, and above, there are only 3 people who could have done this.
Chordial, KORG USA, or Me.
Chordial.... no chance. He hasn't even been around in ages.
KORG USA... I did ask and was told no.
Me.... well I certainly didn't intentionally do it, and the changes of me doing it by accident are so freaking remote it's hard to even imagine, but..... I have to say there is still a margin of possibility in it. I have to take that view too because it's the only one that makes any sense. Chordial is not even around, and if it were KORG, I'd sent this forum on fire and walk away as I will let nobody disrespect Daz. So that leaves only me. Did I do it ??? Fecked if I know. Extremely unlikely, but it is possible with all the Spam we had around here and me deleting treads and blocking entire countries IP ranges.
Regards
Sharp.
Maby it won't be the same as old one but it is better then nothing...

1) I refuse to hold office.McHale wrote:I nominate Ozy. He may abuse his mod powers constantly, but I'm sure it'd be hilarious (unless you're one of those he indiscriminately gives the ban hammer).
But, just for the record:
2) I'd NEVER, EVER ban anybody. I am a staunch libertarian.
I could possibly KILL a forumer or two, but I'd never ban anybody who is in the forum for exchanging ideas, no matter how crazy (that excludes BOTs and SPAMs of course, who are not bona fide forumers).
And I hope nobody is ever banned.
Look at "Sina": no need to ban him. He is doing a fine job himself
NCIS did it when they thought they were getting hacked, then two idiots started typing random things on the same keyboard at the same time, until Mark Harmon thought that he fixed the problem by pulling the plug on an unrelated device that was used to fill the hole in the plot that the director needed.
Youtube proof:

Here, I'll try to prevent their hacking from my side of the keyboard:

Did that work? I guess not. Let me try the other side.

Krap. This hacker is too good. Oh, the boss is pulling the monitor power cord. iwonder ifthat worked. i can't see anyting now. the hacking musthavebeen stopped. but i stillcant see anything. iwonder when its oktoo plugin thecord. i guess when the director says cut is ok. ok. back to veggieporn now.

Again, I nominate Ozy for his strict "kill, but don't ban" policy.ozy wrote:I could possibly KILL a forumer or two, but I'd never ban anybody

Why has every thread - even a very serious one like this - to go out of topic? This place used to be a serious platform for information and now .......
Well again thank you Daz for all your input and help in this forum and even if the thread is deleted your merits won´t.
all the best for your future

If the forum is changing like this - less of meaningful info, more of entertainment - I wonder how Korg will want to help to finance the hosting.

yeah, right: that's my main source of worry as well.Akos Janca wrote:If the forum is changing like this - less of meaningful info, more of entertainment - I wonder how Korg will want to help to finance the hosting.
"How should we behave, in order to make Korg happy?"
THAT'S the thought which keeps me awake at night...
"Meaningful info" is everywhere in the forum. For all of my playing the clown, I still spend half my posts explaining to first-comers how to copy data or how to change a battery.
The only real issue is that after 5 months the main - obvious - focus of the forum (Kronos, and its relation to Oasys, JP80, and NEXT motif and kurz) is totally based on wild guesses.
THIS is sending most threads OT.
But just visit the specifc threads, and the forum is runninf smoothly.
"keeping Korg happy, keeping its intereset awake": my ass...

I spend the majority of my time in the Oasys threads because I own one and, well, I guess I missed those helpful posts.
I agree 100% with SoulBe and Akos, most threads with multiple posts are getting driven off topic with meaningless verbage and other hoo ha. I will agree about not giving a damn about what Korg thinks.
But, I do give a damn about what Daz thinks and I also think he deserves an apology.
Kind regards,
Rick

Hey Daz,
Never chatted with you personally, but I've come across your music multiple times. I hope you'll continue sharing your music with us again.
That sounds like an unfortunate accident , but as it was said already, all your efforts are greatly appreciated by many of us. Thanks

according to what Sharp wrote, there's a distinct possibility that this time DAZ was just SNAFUed-out by a clerical error. s**t happens.rtucker55 wrote:I do give a damn about what Daz thinks and I also think he deserves an apology.
If that's the case, everybody is sorry, nobody owes excuses, and moving on is the best solution.
IF (if) Korg had anything to about it (I really don't think so. I don't think that Bill Gates is Satan, I don't think Korg is the Spectre and is withdrawind hydrogen-based synths and Oasys updates from the public, etc),
well, Sharp already explained that he'd collapse the whole thing in 5 minutes. I'd agree with that.
But let's not get dramatic to no avail.
I frankly give a flying f*ck about Korg. They are just one of my many suppliers, not the focus of my social life.
This community has not been built by Korg, it's been built by musicians, and it would survive.
Korg doesn't love Daz? Hey, WTF!
I don't love the microstation either. Heck, I don't even really love my T3.
I appreciate it. I use it.
We are customer and supplier, not friends.
The "community" is musician-to-musician, Korg is not part of the friendship (people who post here while getting a salary from korg know that, or should. No matter how helpful and nice, they are employees of my supplier, not my friends).
Mutual respect between us musicians is far more valuable that what Korg does or doesn't. Here or elsewhere.
Where they so stupid as to erase Daz's thread? Their problem.
Think of it: it's THEIR problem. They are losing. They probably lose a sale each time we discuss this kind of things.
They lose loyalties, sympathy, forgiveness for mistakes. They feed my sarcasm, or Cello's resentment. Do they really want to go down that route?
Bigger companies than Korg have been doomed by their own arrogance. Stronger people have lost clients. Their choice.
But.
What if Korg wasn't responsible?
Focusing on it would just poison us.
I say: there's a 99,99% chance it's been a glitch. Let's move on.
Welcome back Daz: what's the next subject you want to chat about?
