recording multi-track in realtime on PA500

Hi.. I just wanted piano on track one and strings on two and I was in a rush.. but i was quite frustrated hunting on how to arm the tracks and put the patches in them. I got something satisfactory by luck, but I don't know how I did it.
Can someone trace this out for me...
is this right .... SEQUENCER> PICK INSTRUMENTS> arm track is R> but I'm stuck there. Looks like its going to be one track recording only. Or can't I arm several tracks?
I think I went to Backing sequence and yeah the first try I hit the Start/STOP button to record, but I didn't want the drums, so then I went oto sequencer start and got my recording that way.
So if you want to play with the 16 tracks you're going to be doing them one by one right?
Ok thanks for any insight. The best or should I say only sequencing i really did was on my O1W-PRoX. If you want ANYTHING automated, you have to do it yourself and type or play your drums and synth parts in. These arrangers spoil you kind of.
thanks
