Can the M50 do Cross Modulation or Ring Modulation?

M50 is a rompler so doesn't do any waveform modulation in its internal voice structure. However Korg does have a ring modulator effect which can be applied as an insert or master effect to the overall voice. For monophonic sounds this may be just fine but your mileage will vary with polyphonic sounds depending on what you are after.
M50 and other 'synths' like it are based upon playing back samples of instruments and waveforms and typically apply filters and evelopes, changes to pitch, etc. But no more exciting or advanced synthesis techniques. The M50 also has a built in per-voice drive feature and a few other tricks, but 'pure' synthesis is beyond the realm of workstation samples/romplers.
You may however find that there is a sample in the ROM which sounds like what you are looking for, as Korg usually samples sync, ring mod, waveshape, etc. type sounds.
