Can I sample My Fantom X into My Extreme??

I'm going to try it no matter what the reply... but I was wondering if anybody did this and what kind of results do you get. There is a cool "combi" in The Fantom X. Its a lead guitar with a lot of overtones or harmonics or FX or all of it. That's one of the cool features of some kinds of instrument expressiveness. The artist has tonal control, but there is a little dimension of randomness about how the sound is produced.

So would you recommend I go Spdif to Spdif, or analogue out of the Roland to analogue in of the Korg Extreme? I never did sampling before because I always thought there were unexhausted numbers of sounds I have not used yet that I dont need to go look for more. But I might sell the Roland and it has some sounds I would want to keep.
thanks for any input.

Well I'm gonna tell you the way i sample things from other keyboards. You can find these examples on my website where i sampled Jimmee dee (wich is a patch on roland boards)

For sampling a program (not layered sound)
you want to open p an initialized program slot, then put the waveform from the program you wanna sample into it.
make sure theres no release, or velocity control AND NO EFFECTS and if you do need a certain effect to be sampled cause the triton doesnt have it make sure its not a phasing effect, this will KILL the looping process.. Sample that into the triton extreme. You can use SPDIF if you want. i just go stereo through two cables.

Press the Menu button and go to page 3 “Multisample”.
Select the Preference tab from the bottom of the screen.
Enter in the following settings.

Position = Right
Zone Range = 5 Keys
Original Key Position = Center

Now press the Exit button to return to the Sampling Page.
Make sure that the “Origkey” is set to C2
And change the Top Key Value to D2.

From now on the Triton will enter in all the correct settings all on it’s own.

All you have to do now is sample the “Origkey” that’s displayed on the screen.
So sample the C2 note. Once you sampled that, press “Create”. The Triton will automatically tell you what note to sample next (the OrigKey), and again after you have sampled that note, press create.

Keep going until you have created 13 samples.
-Sharp (from a classic thread)

So do that, then make it into a program. Then copy over all the EG values from the X to the extreme. you seem like you know some stuff so it shouldnt be too hard for you to go forward after that. dont forget to loop the samples.

Now for a layers sound its a little different, make sure the layers are at a perfect mix first of all, then take off all velocity control yata yata that i explained before. Then do the whole process over again.

Hope that helps.

thanks a lot.. that will be a big help.

Sorry for the slow gratitude.. i have been really busy. but I'm going to check this sampling out. I never did it before so that I have a sample in my keys that I can run through scales on a sampled patch or something. yeah this is a mysterious medium.. synths and samples. I understand a lot of it, but I have always been kind of a preset guy.
paul and the presets. that's my band. I sometimes took some of my piano students and thought I had roadies, but I found out that I was their roady instead.
