kaossilator pro out of tune

my kopro just decided to go 1/2 step out of tune. i can hear it and i checked it with several tuners. happens on all patches regardless of scale/range settings. it's not a subtle 'kaoss' kind of out-of-tune; the base pitch for each scale, which had always been rock-solid, is now consistently a half step down. i've power cycled, reloaded the program data using the Editor, and reinstalled the OS (1.02). anyone had this problem or know of a deeper system/novram reset procedure? if controlling it from a midi keyboard wasn't such a pain in the a** i could at least troubleshoot a bit further and see how it behaves when played from an external controller. ugh..

What did you set the key to?

kopro tuning issue

it doesn't matter what the key/range settings are. if i set it to A major (or A anything) the first note is Ab. if I set it to Gm Pentatonic the first note is F#. and so on. it is consistently 1/2 step out of tune. i use my kopro in a number of live situations where i have to play to charts and am used to setting up my patches in different keys; regardless of scale settings, effects, crazy harmonics etc the base pitch has always been spot-on.

hmmmm....are you sure there is nothing stuck anywhere on the edge of the pad? that would make it play a note between that point and your finger...so if something is wedged like under the yellow border plastic, maybe it is registering a note off the scale one whole step, then the average between that point and your finger would be one half step too low....maybe?

no, i inspected the pad closely and there's nothing amiss. perfectly functional except for the fact that everything is shifted down.

i am almost positive that there is a pad calibration method where you hold a button while you turn it on, then touch the center of the four corners to calibrate everything...I can't remember how to do it, but i am pretty sure i've done that before...

yeah, i have not tried the calibration procedure yet. i will do a search on the forum later; i know it's here somewhere. i'm skeptical that it will have any effect as i think it has more to do with what happens between (say) the first cell on the bottom left and the last cell on the top right. i remember doing the calibration procedure when i first got the KoPro and regardless the bottom left cell was always the root note of the currently selected scale. but i could be wrong, i did this a year ago in a 3AM panic because something else wasn't working right

Just a wild guess: if there's an SD card in the slot when you start it up, try starting it without the SD card.
