so on the PA500 PA588 can we save ALL the styles?

Hi.. It looks like we are only able to save the user styles. Also No matter how i try to turn the lock off of the factory presets, they are still locked when I power it back up. If you have kids playing with your gear I think you want the locks on, but if I want to tweak a style in the factory presets I don't want to have to go back there and flip the lock off and back on.
Most importantly here... I loaded a bunch of styles into the empty slots in the factory preset lists and i want to save them all to an SD Card. Do I have to move them to the User slots to get them out of the keyboard? No matter how I save them I only find the User Styles.
Is the only other solution to do a total backup and total REstore?
thanks

Hello Paul,
You can save ALL styles, whether user styles or factory styles.
The mistake that you are making is this: When you switch of the
protect on internal styles you have to save that setting (immediately )
in the "save to global settings ". ( drop down menu right hand top corner)
If you do so the keyboard will remain UNprotected as far as factory styles
is concerned also when powered up again.
As long as the Unproctected is active you can load any style or bank of styles
into your PA, in the same way you load them into a user spot or user bank.
Likewise as long as the protect is off you can SAVE any style or bank of styles
in the same way you would select a user style or user bank to be saved.
Don't know how long you have had your PA but I can also recommend my 2011 Resources see link below. (for PA588 they are identical to PA500)
Kind regards,

Actually John that is not quite correct.
When you disable the Factory Sound and Style protect, it remains off as long as the PA2 is powered on.
Once you turn the keyboard off, it reverts back to being in the protected state. This setting is NOT save-able to the Global file. It is "hard-wired" into the OS.
Secondly, to actually be able to save the Factory style banks requires a slightly different approach as it does not automatically save the Factory banks when you save the styles folder, ONLY the User and Favourites.
You CAN save the Factory banks, but only in this way.
First you need to turn off the Factory Sound and Style protect switch as John said. However You do NOT need to save it to global - waste of time anyway as I wrote above!!
You need to open the SSD-S navigate to the styles folder, and save each Factory style bank individually to your media (either the HDD or attached USB drive.
Then you simply navigate back to the main styles folder in the SSD-S and press save, and this will then save ALL the user and favourites in one go.
It is a weird system, but that's how you do it.

Hello Dennis,
You are correct on your first remark, I simply had forgotten about that fact you know how it goes when you save and load on "automatic pilot ". As to the procedure you explained it better and in detail as I did but I meant the same thing really. Cheers anyway.
Main point being that Paul actually CAN do all he wants to do with the PA-588, that is to save and load in the factory style preset memory.

I loaded a bunch of styles into the empty slots in the factory preset lists
I want to add a warning here:
You cannot use ALL the style slots available, because that will cause a memory shortage to your PA, which gives 'weird behaviour' of the instrument, including a total freeze.
Beware to remain a free part (5-10%) of the internal memory.
The OS of PA500 (588) is not sophisticated enough to monitor this and give you a timely/proper warning... (2011!

)
