After using these keyboards a while.... I have a couple of points I would like to mention. First I think they are great keyboards.
Now I'm gonna gripe. The phones jack on the back under the music stand? Come on. If you have to plug in the headphones when the house goes to sleep, you're hunched over it and its always a hunt. Same with the power switch... back there behind and under the music stand. You couldn't put those two things farther out of reach anywhere on the keyboard.
Then the music stand itself is quite convenient if you don't need to turn a page. But if you do, the bottom edge of your pages are below the deck. So memorize the lowest staff on the pages and anything after page 2.
Last of all .. the power supply. I have a more Korg power supplies than anything. Yes I have more Korg equipment that anything, but the Roland has the power supply built in. So does the Korg Extreme. Not the PA588 or 800 though. Or the Karma or the MX2000.
So ... phones jack in front and the power switch off to the side are the main ones. No other keyboards have music stands very much so at least these have one.
OK I'm done.

well one more point but in another post because its that important by itself.

I agree with you about the location of both the on/off button and the headphone jack input, and I would like to add the SD-slot to this shortlist.
Very annoying; obviously not well thought through. I don't have a problem with the music stand though, I think it's great, much better than the ones delivered with my previous boards.

For keys with plastic-body´S (see PA500), its better to use an external inline power supply, because of electrical mush.

But the PA588 has a metal-body. In this case, korg should use an
internal power supply. Or thought Korg to the weight of the key ?
I dont know.
And yes, all headpone-jacks has to be placed at the front of the key.
And on/off-switches on the panel.

And the displays has to be installed near by the key-bed, so we can see it, when we place a 2nd key on the main-key.
I think the last point is the most important. (for me)

It's much harder and more expensive to get UL approval in the USA for devices with internal power supplies. I like the 12 VDC input - very useful for playing in remote locations.

I agree about the headphone jack and power switch and as soon as my unit is out of warranty I'm pretty sure I will change that.

The SD card slot is OK by me. I haven't removed it since I put it in 9 months ago.

I made a block of wood to lift the sheet music on the music stand. Add a bit of a slope so the music doesn't slide down. It's ugly but functional.
