Do you have to do anything special before removing USB storage devices (thumb drives or USB hard drives) from the Kronos? Do you simply wait for no LED disk activity and remove them, or do you have to turn the Kronos off to do so?
Since the Kronos takes quite a while to re-start, I'd love not to have to do that every time I need to transfer a file from my Mac to the keyboard.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Chris

Re: Removing USB devices from the Kronos
Once you've plugged in a USB thumb drive, hard disk, CD or whatever, go into Disk mode and press the Media Info tab, use the Drive Select drop-down box to access your drive, and the info page will tell you if it supports removable media... So far, all my thumb drives have come up as a removable device, which can be safely unplugged without shutting down.drchris wrote:Do you have to do anything special before removing USB storage devices
No sure what the situation is regarding "non removable" drives though.
I forgot to remove mine when I turned off the Kronos and it wouldn't boot up with it in. I'd just yank it whenever as long as it's not writing to it, it's fine.
Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha).
I always just change the active device in the Disk menu back to the internal SSD before unplugging my USB drives and I haven't had any issues. I have to say that the 3 USB ports can really spoil an individual!
Cheers and good luck!
