Hi,Dani!
If you are talking about me ,I didn't received pm.
About sound quality. First ,few other forum members, beside me, confirms that difference exist.
Difference is very objective in low and middle low frequencies.
If you are interesting I made wave files on each machine - you can compare by your self.
Becouse it made on internal recording, no audio routing (cables, mixers, etc) were involved.
Why Steven not hear difference I don't know- I can't imagine that his Oasys sounding waster than mine or Kronos sounding better.
Loaded Oasys in the $2000-$2500 range or extra $1000 for K?

Maybe a stupid question, but did you actually load the same Oasys sound banks on both? Perhaps the Kronos versions of similar name combi's have less ridiculous EQ settings than some of the older Korg presets? (E.g. +9dB bass and treble)
I haven't checked the samples on my studio setup yet. Thanks for the effort. Interesting to note is, that if this difference is apparent, it is NOT because of the DACs because you said you did direct internal recording. The DACs have been the main focus of the sound difference discussion and they are said to be identical.

Yes Cello, I've just received an e-mail from Leo with the two WAV-Files and the following is my answer to his e-mail: (So I really don't understand your last sentence, because as an owner of TWO OASYS-88, you can imagine which opinion I would rather support. But it is not a question of oppinion, BUT A FACT, at least after comparing those WAVS, that OASYS has the BETTER sound than Kronos...)cello wrote:Dany - I too think the OASYS sounds better than the Kronos.
The O is rich and full and and the kronos sound 'thinner'.
I accept this is not scientific. I accept too that it is entirely emotionally lead. I accept that you could show me all PCB and component diagrams to show me that they're exactly the same.
But although I view the Kronos as a fantastic instrument, I see it only as a cheap copy (with a couple of tech updates - none of which have anything to do with sound quality) of a superior instrument - so that will have a lot to do with how I 'perceive' the sound difference.
However, if you don't mind, I have every right to have my opinion - and if it's alright with you, I won't be changing it any time soon.
Hello Leo
Thank you so much!!!! Yes indeed, if I compare those two files, IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THE OASYS IS STILL PLAYING IN A DIFFERENT SOUND LEAGUE THAN KRONOS. I wonder why almost nobody else is reflecting on this fact. The OASYS sounds better than Kronos, no doubt. So I am really happy two have two OASYS-88 with a great 88 key action and a superior sound. After all it was huge investment and I am happy that I do not have to repent it.
Now I have the wanted proof !!!!
So thank you again Leo and all my best wishes to you!
BTW: Leo has sent me a personal e-mail with the WAV files attached....and I've checked them out on my Genelec Monitors and AKG k702 headphones.

Sorry Dany - I misunderstood your post. It appeared to me you were having a dig at OASYS owners!
I didn't realise you had two Os (you lucky thing!).
I've heard the two wav files thanks to Leo and they confirm my gut instinct that the O sounds better.
I have tried the Kronos at my local store - 3 times and I didn't hear the 'soul' or 'magic' I hear when playing the OASYS.
It's older yes, but it's still better!
Once again my apologies - hope I didn't offend you through my misunderstanding.

I've sent you email as you asked, but as I understand you got the files.
I'm very happy that you are now is in the same boat!
Difference were obvious to me. The question -why other's (including korg related people by the way) dont hear the difference?
