Sidechaining on the Oasys

Hi all,

Long time away from here, but thought I would come back to steal some of your knowledge as I know some of you on here are experts with the O.

I am attempting to do some sidechaining at the moment. I have followed the examples on P 790 of the PG and have managed to get a pad on track 1 responding to a kick drum on track 2.

My main question is that track 2 always has to be playing in order to cause track 1 to duck.

I was wondering if there was any way of recording just the "ducked" output from track 1 without the kick.

I have heard this a lot in dance music and was wondering how it is done and if it can be done on the Oasys.

Hope my question makes sense.

Thanks,

Leon.

On the IFX - MIDI ROUTING 2 page, you can turn the Kick routing to OFF, instead of to IFX or L/R. Under that, you can route the Kick directly to FX CONTROL BUS 1 or 2. (You can also route the Kick to an IFX and route the effected sound to the FX CONTROL BUS.)

If you need to temporarily hear the Kick sound, click on the SIDE CHAIN MONITOR box inside the Gate/Compressor/Limiter program.

Hi Mike,

I am not ignoring your response. I have just come back from a few days away.

Thanks for the information, I will give it a go later.

Cheers.
