Copying Programs to Sequencer on OASYS

Post by trancept »

I've been fumbling around with this and the manual for some time now. The scene is this: I like a sound I want to copy to sequencer, with effects. It appears there's no Utility drop down in the program that lets you copy everything straight across to the sequencer.

However, in Sequencer mode, there is a drop down that allows copying of program/combi's to the seq track but not with the IFX. It appears they have to be copied separately.

Is there a way to simply transfer the program+effects into the sequencer on whatever track you're working on?

Am I missing something here?

Cheers,
Barry

Hi Barry.
When in Program or COMBI mode, press and hold down the ENTER button, and press Record.

That should get you going.

Sharp.

Barry, Have you sussed this out yet? Not sure why you are / were having problems. Anyway, here's how to do it.

In Sequence mode main page, select copy from program from drop down menu.

You will get a new window with options for selecting program, effects used and midi track destination.

Firstly, you navigate using the tabs to select the desired program from anywhere in the Oasys.

When you have found your program press OK.

Now select which effects you wish to copy across with the program. For IFX's I usually check the box for All used . Then choose whether you want MFX / TFX by checking boxes.

If you want exactly the same sound as the program, check MFX and TFX boxes although this may effect other sounds as you copy to the sequencer.

Now select which midi track you wish the program to be copied to.

Press OK and your program should now have been copied to the desired track with all the original IFX's (and MFX / TFX if checked).

You should be OK with this. It's fairly straightforward. Let me know if it works or not.

Good luck 8)

Hi,

Sharp´s advise will work.

I have an additional question. Is there a possibility to add another combie to the seq with enter / record after the first one to avoid selecting each single program/efx ? I tried but the second one overwrites the first one ...

best regards

I must have misunderstood. I thought Barry was asking how to copy a program (with effects) to the sequencer.

Hi TonyGen,

the way Sharp describes works also in program oder combie mode, so for programs you can rather choose enter rec oder copy from program. In combie mode it copies all programs within the combie into the seq so you need the copy from program only to add programs. In both cases the ifx´s / mfx tfx are copied.

So if you were in sequence mode and have been working on a song for which you have already programmed 10 tracks and want to add a program (including effects) that you particularly like to another track or change the program for an exisiting track.....how would you do it?

Hi Tony - from my experience with the seq, I've found that you can't import a 2nd combi (with its own Fx) without affecting the Fx of the 1st combi.

My workaround, (for the lack of a neater approach!), is to import the 2nd combi 'dry' and then recreate the new Fx manually through different IFX routing, retaining the Fx allocated to the 1st combi.

Works for me although it's not very elegant I know...

Cheers, cello,

I know how to do it. I am wondering whether others do.....

The Record / Enter shortcut is the way to go if you are on a combi / program page and wish to immediately make a sequence from it. But the only way I know of adding additional programs with effects to a sequence you've already started is how I described previously.....

Copying from program to sequence also pulls through EQ settings even if you don't have enough room for all the effects.
