I am somewhat unclear how ROM memory works in the OASYS. Maybe someone can explain. Specifically, I'm wondering about the EX1 and EX2 (piano) expansion modules that I assume are user installable on the back of the "O" altough I bought it with the modules installed. Korg specifically says both EX1 & EX2 cannot be active at the same time.
In my experience with the Assault Library, I had to turn BOTH EX1 and EX2 off to load the entire library just to be able to hear it completely.
I thought EX1 & EX2 were truly expansion modules and would not cut into the ROM already available. Evidently, this is not the case, and the expansion boards cut into the 2GB of RAM.
Also, what has been anybody's experience loading AKAI format discs into the OASYS? I tried one and got a display of "Partition 1," Partition 2," etc. but it did load at least one sound. I also have Kurtzweil Native discs which I haven't tried yet.
Any suggestions would be helpful,
Barry

There's a big difference between EXi and EXs expansions.
A EXi is a completely new sound engine. It does not use sampled sounds at all. Where a EXs is not a new engine at all. Its PCM data (Samples) that make use of the HD-1 engine that already exists on your OASYS.
In short, all EXs expansions will use sample RAM and all EXi expansions will not.
