Help Id'ing an IC on dead ESX-1SD + Fuse questions

Post by UFighterX »

Hi everyone,

I was recently using my ESX-1SD and it shut off, the power supply was completely dead and nothing worked. I figured it was just the power supply, I contacted Korg and they sent me a replacement, great. I received it and now it would power on but display no writing on the screen, just the backlight was lit. Fuse? so I take it apart and see not only is the fuse popped, theres a toasty component. Can anyone help me ID it? maybe someone has a service manual? I've attached some pictures... It's IC6 and the only writing on it is "BNSQ". Also, does anybody know what type fuse this model takes for "FUSE1"? is it the same as the ESX-1/EMX-1? I have the service manual for the ESX-1/EMX-1 but it looks like the power area is completely different, since they use different power supplies.

Thanks for any help :)

I'd send it to Korg for repairs if I were you -- there may be other damaged components that aren't obviously fried like that IC chip.

BNSE

Hola!

The BNSE or BNSQ is a Switching Regulator, model S-8520, manufactured by Seiko. The code is part of KORG "324023008 - IC S-8520F33MC-BNS-T2(TS)"

S-8520F33MC-BNS-T2 or S8520F33MCBNST2G

The difference in the power stage is between previous models and the "new" SD.

Greetings and good luck!
