missing a step?

Post by bionicle »

hi, when i try and load my own kits into the drum part only every second part allows me to access them. what am i missing?

example:

i select kick for drum part one, works fine

try and select the same kick or other sound in drum part 2 and i get no sound.

drum part 3 accepts the sound, but not 4, and so on.
Any idea why??

THanks

Your problem(i think) is that your drum samples are STEREO.Parts 1 + 3 accept stereo and mono samples but you will sacrifice the parts next to them if a stereo sample is loaded to either.

The mono parts 2,4,5,6a,6b,7a,7b will accept stereo but will play back in mono. Parts 1 + 3 also accept mono, but stereo samples take priority and cancel out anything loaded to 2/4 or both.

Either edit your samples in a DAW or audacity to MONO, or re-sample your drum hits to mono within the ESX.

yep, that's right, see page 46 in the manual:

"You can assign a stereo sample to drum parts 1 or 3, and assign a stereo stretch sample to stretch part 1. If you assign a stereo sample to any other part only the left channel of the sound will be heard
"If you assign a stereo sample to drum part 1 or 3, drum 2 or 4 will not sound. In this case the sample number will blink if you choose sample part 2 or 4. The same relationship applies to stretch part 1 and 2."

It doesn't apply to all parts, only the parts labelled ST and -
drum 1/ST and 2/-
drum 3/ST and 4/-
stretch 1/ST and 2/-
