Oasys for the future

I think if Korg would have gotten more third party companies involed like they
seem to be doing now on the Kronos because they have to, to keep up with
what going on in the industry. They would have had many third party companies
turning out stuff for the Oasys. They can't do it all themselves and have to
let some other companies help with the creating new sounds etc for it, like they
are now doing on the Kronos. Hmmmm
Why do you think all the companies like apple etc let third party conpanies make
apps for them. They both make money from them.
Maybe someone with see the light and let a third party develop for the Oasys.

Oasys was just an experiment. The knowledge that korg was to gain from this wonderful experiment was to be the core of many other korg products in the future. This was what was probably originally intended anyway. Like most experiments, the experiment is usually forgotten after it is over and the knowledge gained stays forever in some form or other.
Fortunately, oasys is still the same hardware that it was originally intended to be...OPEN! If korg wants, it could continue to develop the softwares and upgrades to refine this instrument and/or open it up to 3rd party developers. But my suspicion is that for some weird marketing reasons, which doesn't make sense to me (or may be to anyone), it seems to have completely closed the oasys chapter from its books. This is unfair to oasys owners like me who spent so much to be their guinea-pigs.
Me and many others have shouted loudly so many times on this issue to the point of being an irritation to some people who were either lucky to afford the new kronos or happy that they didn't purchase oasys in the first place but secretly were jealous of oasys owners. The shouting has now died down significantly and everyone's given up. May I suggest you do the same? GIVE UP!!! no point in moaning anymore!!! No one listens and it only creates uneasiness among people here. have you not read the rest of the threads?
NEVER GIVE UP

NEVER GIVE UP, GET EVEN. I never bought one of the Oasys systems but
might have if I was looking for a keyboard like I am now. So this shows
me what Korg is made of if they drop this product after people had spent so much. I won't be buying a Kronos and other people need to think the same. What is the Kronos future. Hmmmmmmm
Im now looking over at the Ketron AUDYA. They more updates all the time for free and third party companies working to make new things for it.
Now that is a workstation and arranger and more in my book.
Many more features from what I read about it then on the KRONOS.
Voice corder which is much more powerful then the Kronos one.
The guitar sounds put the Kronos to shame plus many more from what I hear on the net.

Why is it that none of you ever complain about how much you spent on laptops/desktops 7 years ago (and how little you got for that money) vs. what the prices and features are now? Korg didn't make a $6000 profit from each one. Korg had the same price/profit margins on the OASYS as they do now on the KRONOS.
Here's a blast from the past for comparison's sake:

Yawn. McHale - please drop it.
Whether you like it or not there are a lot of p!ssed off OASYS owners out there (not because of the incredible capability it has as an instrument, but because of the way Korg chose to treat OASYS owners...).
They don't need you to understand their point of view and their anger is very, very real, and the fact that you don't respect that and keep posting such things is as much trolling as if I now started to let you know why I am also a p!ssed off owner...
But I shall resist. Kindly do the same.

I can't help it that some people can't comprehend that as technology improves, prices come down. You guys make it out like Korg went out of their way to screw over OASYS owners from the date of conception. It's not true and tiring to read over and over and over and over and over and... Quit feeling sorry for yourselves and trying to make yourselves out to be martyrs.
Korg bent over backwards for OASYS owners but no matter what they did, it wasn't enough. They supported it twice as long as any keyboard or workstation they ever produced and gave you a phenomenal workstation WAY before anybody else had one. Early adopters always pay a premium. My first 3 smartphones cost over $1000 a piece. Am I angry that new ones are cheaper now? No, I'm thrilled I'm paying less for smartphones.
It's sad to see that you would rather see them go bankrupt then allow them to BE A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS.
And the anger is real? Only in your head my friend.

Show me where I have said ever that Korg went out of their way to screw over OASYS owners?
I wouldn't say that because I don't believe that to be the case.
I don't want to see them go bankrupt either. I am a huge fan of Korg and have been for 30 years. But I do not find their treatment of OASYS and its users as acceptable or reasonable - perhaps even honest.
Okay, let's test your theory.
Please go into the Kronos forum and post that Korg's history is to only support a keyboard for 3 years roughly (whatever you think it is). Explain that the OASYS was a special, unique and totally unreasonable case and was supported for double the norm. And of course, as a Kronos owner yourself, you will find this totally acceptable.
Yeah, right.

yes, he loves to be around in this subforum .......
........though let´s try to stay on topic
to open the platform is something a lot of users wish but it will never happen unfortunately. Korg like any other company will keep their secrets in programming etc because of the economic competition.

How is it that Apple has other company programmers go to their
special classes to learn their special app software OS and they don't
have a problem with teaching them it at a cost. Its not free, they charge.
Some companies bitch because Apple made a special OS to make apps.
So Korg should have no problem with having other companies making
things for them sounds, and other things. They let Karma in and should
be others working on stuff.
Guess will have to wait and see how KORG handles third parties with
the Kronos.

Probably because the market for million sellers like iThings is far bigger than what people can earn with creating sounds for the Kronos.
Also Apple has many more developers than Korg.

Yes you are right about apple having many companies working to
make new products for them and stay ahead.
These keyboard companies need to think the same way.

I can understand the frustration out there. However, I am moving on beyond it. I am waiting for the Kronos 61. Not withstanding, I knew down deep inside that endless new touches and improvements were probably not realistic. The situation looks very much like I had with my T3-ex that I worked with for 15 years, just using and enjoying it...I hope to do the same with my Oasys.

Hope for the future

I don't know why some still feel aggrieved towards Korg and the Oasys saga show your appreciation in return and vote with your wallet go elsewhere.the Oasys is still an incredible piece of technology and will long stay as a massive soundsource and inspiration to my music making experience irrespective of how pissed I was at Korg for ditching it,let the Kronos sell in bucket loads, hopefully the revenue it gains Korg will help pave the foundations for the next generation
..however you see it I still grin everytime I switch the Oasys on and see that glowing screen and array of LEDs and continue to find new ideas when I use it....you can either grow miserable about it's shortcomings or evolve with it's endless possibilities, there's no point in griping about it Korg are done with it
so use it to it's best capacity or ditch it and buy other brands......
I've always utilised a bunch of gear from other manufacturers alongside Korg so have always realised that no one machine is going to ever give you every utility or operation you will ever require....the Oasys is no exception and don't
see why there is so much anguish over what could have been based on the extras the Kronos has, that like every other Korg platform will only have a certain life expectancy with support and dare say at it's entry pricepoint will leave a lot of disgruntled owners when it's superceded by essentially a further incarnation of old technology that could have been really built into previous machines,I was always upgrading to the next platform workstation which to me always seemed like false economy when I look back now,in as much as I paid over 5grand for Oasys I can see myself getting a decent return on its longevity based on how it still inspires me everyday even after at least 4 years of ownership, the only other workstation to ever beat that was the 01W which I had owned, used and gigged with for well over 8 years, and the 01 doesn't have a patch on the features inside the Oasys....
