2buss recording?

Hi all,
I have plans for recording my first EP, via an xtramix mixer and an api 5500 eq that will be arriving soon. I still might pull the trigger on a api 2500 compressor, not sure yet. I already have an overstayer compressor. I will primarily only use outboard effects, 4 moogerfoogers. I also have several analogue monosynths and a drum machine, and a Virus.
I mainly play by sequencing and playing lead or bass over that. I have a korg d888, but I'm thinking I won't even use it - just do sort of a live session 2buss recording. I'm chosing the O for recording because its the best converters I have. I'm thinking of using the Oasys inputs to record, perhaps using the O limiter and maybe some of its reverb.
I'm still at the planning stage, any advice on how you approach a similar project? Having an "out of the box" sound is important to me.

I run my virus into the OASYS. I've also used an external effects box, like in this
VIDEO.

Thanks Mike, really liked the DVD a lot!
Did you use the O's gate/reverb/eq/compressor/limiter at all during recording? How would you rate the converters?

Great work Mike! BTW, I do own your "Unofficial Oasys" and enjoy it. You and your wife did a super job on the the extra mini story that you put on the dvd. You have a great depth of understanding on the O and after seeing your related business(movie making), your orchestration and sound effects talents dovetail very nicely.

The O's effects are nice quality, as are the converters. Kevin Nolan has also posted about the quality and that the noise floor on his recordings was really low. I concur.

Good to hear! Some extra videos (on Youtube), if you missed them:
Using KARMA to switch voice groups for performance
Converting audio rates and adding Stereo wave files to a song (Starts from DISK mode.)
Recording Multiple Combis to audio tracks
External FX into the OASYS

Thankyou, Denny. Did you see the Youtube vids I did with the Karo (and O) sounds?
Song 1
Song 2
Song 3
Oh,.....some more shorts with my wife and I.
CONTINGENCY PLAN
SCREAMIN' DEMON (Also starring the OASYS.)
A SOLDIER'S SON (Cool O sounds and Karo strings in this one!)

Thanks, Mike. No, I haven't yet...but I am going to check them out right now. BTW, about the Karo KSL library for the Oasys, is that still available? I know both you and Cello have made excellent use of it.

I'm afraid Karo discontinued all OASYS libraries when they signed up to do Kronos libraries.

Cello, you're playing a soft sad song---your're breakin' my heart. I thought there might be a chance to get some of those string sounds.

Is there any other really credible 3rd party string sounds available to your knowledge?

I think they discontinued the Oasys altoughter as the M3 and Kronos slowly emerged.

Kurt at Karo said in another thread that if you email him, he'll work a deal.

Mike, you're awesome! BTW, "right now" morphed into today. Thanks for posting the movies, you have quite a talented family...they were excellent.
You and your wife have some excellent chemistry also. My wife(Mrs 51%) really enjoyed the plots as well as the acting. FWIW, I have a phd in LMN and TCM--they are required courses at "Keeping Your Wife Happy and Sharing the TV University".

Thanks for the feedback, Denny. I'm glad that your wife liked them, too! Those shorts are for fun and experimenting.
BTW, It was nice to see the Cats beat ASU! I'm a UofA grad. I used to shop at LA Music and Rainbow Guitars, when I lived there. You might appreciate
THIS photo, from 1990.

That was great Mike. We moved here from SoCal about 10 years ago. I do go to Rainbow Guitars also, nice people. We live down in Tubac, in the hills, next to the forest, way out there!
I've got to add that your scoring is absolutely amazing. My wife was also commenting on that as we were watching the shorts. BTW, I had a weird phenomenon happen with my Oasys today. Please feel free to PM me if you have the time and wouldn't mind an email or a brief chat. The best!
