Hello there,
the singer out of my band has just purchased a korg kaoss pad 1 off eBay for £50 (baragain i think?)
we are an experimental punk indie type band and are looking to use the technology to a similar way in which radiohead do in this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwdWfPxpq8g) simply sampling and manipulating the vocals
ive searched all over youtube and cant find much on the KP1, only the later versions so for one i was just wondering if the pad does have a sample function that can be used in real time and if so how could we use it in a live situation? ideally using as little amount of cable for auxes, etc. i was thinking just simply plugging mic into the pad an the pad into the mixing desk but not certain if it suits that or if we would need to use a D.I. box or anything,
thanks in advance

Hey I wish I could help you more but my first Kaoss was a KP2. It did have sampling but it wasn't suited to what I wanted to do. I sold it to a guitarist and he's still using it. That radiohead song looked like two guys were doing the digital parts, lots of pedals too. I don't know if Thom's voice was manipulated through the KP1 or not. Do you have the program sheet? If you do, I'd just start playing with it and see what you come up with. The newer Kaoss products have a lot more features that probably take over what a lot of those pedals were doing. The price however as usual sucks cause they're expensive. Sorry, no real help from me but it's great to see people trying new things.

Here's a link to the Kaoss Pad 1 user manual:

http://www.noisefx.com/docs/korg_kaossPad_kp-1.pdf

It has the KP1 program list and also the midi function list.
